  1. Its getting stag calipers that is the problem, otherwise would of gone the stag route Cheers Andy
  2. piman wrote:Hello Andy, I too have had many cars with S.U. pumps over the years, no real problems at all, a good and reliable pump in my view. Probably I have been lucky as I also run a Lucas fuel pump on my P.I. which has been trouble free also. Alec I have also had 2 pi triumphs both running lucas pumps without any problems, Think people change to modern `upgrade` just for the sake of it
  3. Don`t really see the problem using a su pump, i drive a mgbgt as my main car at moment, i have owned the car for just over 7 years and have never had a problem with the pump, Its sit underneath the car so not protected and in the time i have owned the car it has sat around sometimes for months on end and other times used everyday, It`s always the same, turn ignition on a few clicks from the pump and away it goes Cheers Andy
  4. Dale Not going to do it this year as no Triumph on road and no money, Hoping to get my mk3 spit on road next year, then will do it again Cheers Andy
  5. To get prefect gaps after fitting sills to spitfires either heritage or steelcraft require a lot of work, neither fit straight away and heritage are better, If like you say weld a piece on top to make it look right, as long as done right  shouldn`t be  problem, its something i have done in the past. Also cut a sill and added metal that way before as well. You should of had a lip where the sill sits on to prevent the sill sitting to low at the front which is often missing after previous repairs Cheers Andy
  6. Yes did read it made it , Think you should use it anyhow, At least you have a back up, Don`t think Tim would let me use the mg
  7. Colin Something to do with me doing about 4 different cars while yours was here, Didn`t want to do yours to quickly as had to make sure you would still be putting it together at the start,  ;D
  8. I have finally finish welding it now has new front floors/outriggers, sills, door skins, rear arches and various other repair totalling 120 hours. Now have to remove about 6 layer of old paint to respray it, Once painted it will just leave complete interior refresh with new carpets, doorcards mgf front sets and headlinning and then start on the mechanic`s with everything needing doing as been off road for 5 years. The RBRR will be a good shake down for it as doing a tour of Europe two weeks later Cheers Andy
  9. Hi I`m rebuilding a mk1 estate at moment, I`m fitting mk2 front brakes to it, as it has  the early disc`s on it at moment, What are the best pads to use? And where to get them from Cheers Andy
  10. The kink in the floorpans  on the last few i have fitted have been in the wrong place, Apart from that they are not that bad a fit and quite a good match, looking at your pictures of your outriggers in other  posting noticed that it looked like a stag outrigger that you fitted, these are slightly different shape to original, so a little reshaping is required Cheers Andy
  11. 075 battery`s fit, got them on both of my big Triumph`s. pi and carb Cheers Andy
  12. Glad you have finally had it done, Hopefully it will make a world of difference to you, A lot of people i know who have had it done say how much difference it has made to them Hope you have a speedy recovery Cheers Andy
  13. Dave if you are talking about the gutter trim, mk2 are the same Cheque posted today cheers Andy
  14. i still have to decide which car i`m using, One is ready to go and used so will just give it a service before hand, The other needs complete rebuild with major welding. Sills, front floors,Door skins x4 and complete respray, Would rather take the second one cheers Andy
  15. thescrapman wrote: Andy They going on my car?? Very kind of you... :-) Cheers Colin Not your car Colin, Mine, But could do a deal with the sill i have for mine rather than that crappy one you supplied ;D People really need to get these orders in, because of the lead time and more chance of getting the company to press a big order than leaving it and then trying to get them to press a couple at a time, If anybody has a mk1 or mk2 and plan on keeping it would reconmend getting a pair now and holding then for when you need them Cheers Andy
  16. I think i know that car and previous owner, It did the HCR a couple of years ago but not the RBRR, Should be sending my entry in soon, Then will have a reason to get my mk1 estate on the road, Only needs complete rebuild and painting, but other peoples cars keep getting in the way. If all else fails will use the mk2 pi which did it in 2008 Cheers Andy

    MK2 Doors

Always best to repair you existing doors, As has been said on here there is so much difference in the fit from  door to door. As an example have a very good n/s/f door sitting in my garage, its original and hasn`t been reskinned , Not really look that closely but think its a mk2 as painted emerald, Have tried fitting it to 3 different cars now and only one of the cars was it an exceptable fit Cheers Andy
  18. thescrapman wrote:EEV2000 in her current Olive drab paintwork. it will look a lot worse before looking any better ;D Might be joined by an even scruffy mk1 estate, if i ever get any time to do my own Cheers Andy
  19. Ted Told you there is a problem with sills, Knew c witor was out as had his last few a while back,  You have to remember i have done at least 5 pairs in the last year, Have 2 mk1`s sitting here waiting for sills to be fitted which i have, Also know of 2 mk2`s which need sills and would think the mk1 i was talking to you about will also need doing, know Earlpart list the full sills but at the price they are asking make the mk2`s not worth doing Can see a phone call to canley`s monday morning Cheers Andy
  20. Ted Apart from earlpart who else has sills in stock at a reasonable price? As apart from paying silly money to Earlpart not been able to get any and have at least 2 cars waiting for some, could do with 2 pairs of mk1 and a pair of mk2 Cheers Andy
  21. lloyd how about getting on with some sills, or even cover sills, Do agree half wings are good idea, Alot easier than fitting complete wings, Only time complete wings would really be needed is when the box section between `A`post and where the strut mounts has rotten away Cheers Andy
  22. Hi chris NSR door skins are available from Earlpart as he lists them on E-bay, As far as i know the stag inner bowl will fit but never tried Rear wings/arches don`t forget you need mk1 arches, Basically get in line with everyone else, Rear valance have seen them for sale but can`t remember where Boot floor i think NLA but could be wrong Cheers Andy
  23. The reason mgb owners like the 123 dizzy is that they have one just for them, The normal electronic ignition dizzys you but accuspark ect the curves are wrong and give a miss fire at 65/70mph 123 do on specially for the mgb which solves that problem as the rest have to use a standard 123 and go for the best curve available Still think its a good bit of kit cheers Andy
  24. I have simon`s contact details if needed ,  Have his car in the workshop Cheers Andy
  25. Thats your Trouble, With bodywork issuse and short or lack of mot would say £500/£700 top for someone to repair, Very few people  now days who want triumphs want rough looking ones, The cost of putting bodywork right  on the `big` triumph is very expensive  and panels are scarce, The costs to sort and value once done don`t make sense to do them. If i had of known a few months ago would of been interested in it, But brought one 1967 man o/d estate no mot or tax for £300 and don`t have the money or space for another one, I do think its a shame to break it, but its your car and if nobody is prepared to buy it at a price that makes sense to you, and you have the time and space to break it and can wait to get all your money back its up to you, A lot depends if you have any attachment to it or its just a means of transport. I would of thought it would sell on e-bay with mot for over £800 if you look at what mk1 estate are fetching at moment Cheers Andy
