    Door alignment

The rear doors use countersunk bolts, fronts normal. Normal to see washers used to get the gaps right Cheers Andy
  2. If you are going to fit it in from the side with bonnet on its best to remove the front wheel and put it on axle stand otherwise wheel gets in way of engine hoist.
  3. I have a pair of outer sills here from the original order, but no middles if any good to you. Hardest bit would be getting them to you Cheers Andy
  4. For everybody thinking of putting stag brakes on the saloon, I recently did this for someone and put it on the brake rollers at mot station. No difference on thr fronts to the mk 2 setup on my mk1 estate. The rears were worse than standard mk1 on the rollers by quite a bit which did surprise me. Stag calipers are hard to get hold of now, especially l/h ones for some reason Cheers Andy
  5. But I've ordered one of these slightly cheaper tools to try: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1815.....e=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT. I'll see if it fits and works, and report. Graham [/quote] I've used one of that type for years. Never fails Cheers Andy

  7. Early herald I think had locking handles both sides, my early couple had locking handles both sides Cheers Andy
  8. MG F seats don't fit the convertibles as well as the Mazda ones. Two different mx5 seat were available depending on year. Early ones had built in speakers in the headrest. Later ones had separate headrests. These are from mk1 mazdas. Think early mk2 mx5 seats are same as later mk1 ones Cheers Andy
  9. Will fill in form and post this week.. Talked the wife into map reading so will be easy, easy option.. Cheers Andy
  10. Does look like mk4/1500 arches have been fitted, doesn't really make sense when mk3 arches are readily available Cheers Andy
  11. Ted Don't you think 175/70/13 look a little small on the saloon/estates. Really need 80 profile which cuts the choice down Cheers Andy
  12. On my mk1 estate with Chris witor 1" lower progressive springs I have 195/65/15 tyres on the front with 6" wide wheels. You will notice a 2000 with auto box is a cruiser not a racer Cheers Andy
  13. I've repaired them before. I have two here and both are beyond repair. So short of making a new one I need to find one Cheers Andy
  14. I have cut them out with the extra thin cutting disc in a grinder before. Not the easiest job to do Cheers Andy
  15. Again anybody know where I can get a decent hood frame or just header rail, but not at Rimmers price of over £200 Cheers Andy
  16. Does anybody know if mini wheel studs will fit a herald? I'm after some longer 3/8 studs and mini ones are a lot cheaper. £1.20 each compared to canleys £3? And Rimmers at £7 each. Before anybody says use freelancer studs I want 3/8 ones to go with the wheel nuts I have Cheers Andy
  17. Not seen a vinyl roof on gt6 before. Normal reason for it is to cover uneven roof or had sunroof in before and taken out. Very hard to remove sunroof and fill/weld hole up without it showing. The other thing is vinyl roofs were all the rage in the 70/80's and were retro fitted to loads of cars. You used to be able to go to local motor factors and buy them. Cheers Andy
  18. Have a few mk3 spitfire screens laying about here. All old toughened ones, but useable. Free if collected Cheers Andy
  19. I have a rad for a vitesse 6 here. Removed it from a 62 vitesse about eight years ago when I fitted a 2litre engine. Had been recored about 2 years before that. Free to anybody if they collect it, can't state condition now as been behind bench Cheers Andy
  20. I was offered a mk1 vitesse bonnet the other week, not seen it but was told it was very good, could try and contact the person and see if he still has it, he was after about £300 for it..
  21. What I normally do is brush on bonda prima then depending where it is stonechip and brush celly in colour to match car, if not seen at all bonda prima and then chassis black and weld throu primer on edge where welding To be fair anything is better than nothing Cheers Andy

  23. Don't forget with going from tandem to single line brakes you need to get a lot higher handbrake reading on brake test at mot, think it's 15% for tandem 25% for single. On a lot of older cars this is a common fail Cheers Andy
  24. Are you sure you don't have a middle section for a herald rather than spitfire,  spitfire/gt6 shorter than herald/vitesse. Cheers Andy
