And don't forget that Italy has no limit on prosecuting the offence, can be years afterwards. But surely they can't prosecute you in this country as they have no jurisdiction unless HM Government do it on their behalf which is a process that I've never heard used. Pleading ignorance or simply ignoring any letter from abroad and the costs involved in recovering fines will make it uneconomic to do so and not worth the hassle. Jim.
  2. Why not concentrate on driving the Alps from west to east and back again like the Alpine Rally of old where Triumphs did rather well. The start and finish could be around Grenoble, missing out the marathon to get to the rally interesting roads. Alternatively there could be a tour of the western Alps and the likes of the Grandes Goulets (look them up on Google Images) on one trip and the next trip, two years later, do the Eastern Alps and the likes of the Stelvio and Gavia. By getting rid of the long sections getting to the interesting roads as part of the route, there would be more time spent driving on phenomenal roads that are bypassed for the reasons of time constraints. In addition, more time could be allocated to visiting places such as the Schlumpf Museum at Mulhouse or the Ferrari factory at Modena. Or even try and gain access to the likes of Monza, Spa or some other motor racing circuit. 10 Countries was a good idea, and still is, but the one drawback was this target of visiting all 10 countries and perhaps missing out on some epic roads due to the necessity to keep to a tight time schedule. There's nothing wrong with the basic premise of the 10 Countries but perhaps we should think about whether it should evolve into something different. Jim.
  3. We were driving to Dijon when we took a wrong turn and someone turned the car around to catch the exhaust on a raised curb. Well some 15 mins later traveling down a very bumpy road the exhaust came loose and began scraping on the floor. We pulled up and lucky for us Howard was behind us, I jacked the car up to fix the broken exhaust bracket, Howard positioned his car behind ours turned his engine off and left his LED lights on for me to work with. After I finished the bracket I was flummoxed with a sound of buzzing coming from the boot, so the boot was emptied out looking for the offending item. The fuel pumps were disconnected and still the buzzing continued, I was baffled, well after nearly emptying out the whole car I found the offending item. Si had an electric razor in his weekend bag at the rear of the passenger seat, this was on and buzzing away. Problem sorted we continued on to Dijon racetrack. Fab night. Rob
  4. I had to open the chassis up and alter other parts. Its a body off modification and you need to alter the bulkhead also. A lot of work but will improve handling no end especially with a big 2500 motor. Rob

Neither the Moss or Hurricane were part of the Standard Triumph group, so does this open the door to other Triumph engined cars? Conversely, does a Triumph with a non Triumph engine, therefore, become ineligible? Discuss. Jim. Also remembered that there was a TVR 1300M utilising a 1296cc Spitfire engine.   Not much chance of seeing one though as only 15 were produced. Jim.

  8. GTRoger wrote:It's not mine Jim, borrowed it from a friend. Car needed a proper testdrive after the rebuild, so 10CR is perfect. But does it need a rebuild after the test drive? ;) Do you have any other friends with nice cars that need a rest drive? :) Was following you on the message diary.  You and Els looked to be having a ball. Very envious. Jim.
  9. GTRoger wrote:Uploaded some pics to the album  :) Great pictures Roger. When did you get the TR? Jim.
  10. Theo, What's with the black wheels? Are they spacesavers? :) Jim.
  11. It was good to see you again Sean, remember get that car finished and come for a visit to Scotland! Heeding back to the UK tomorrow. Fab few days.

  13. Has anyone else noticed how most crews look out of place in their shorts in the photos? I don't think I've seen so many badly dressed people in one place! :) I think, for the next foray into Europe, there should be an addition to the drivers briefing regarding sartorial elegance. Still jealous.  Does it show? ;) Loving the message diary though and following it on Facebook. Jim.
  14. Howard wrote:Go on get that TR7 and join us :) I should have been with you all in a TR7 but circumstances intervened. Such is life. It sucks! Jim.
  15. There must be a lot of fettling going on to keep the cars going. That would explain why only half a dozen or so are leaving messages. :( Fewer crews sending messages than previous outings in the biggest number of crews taking part in 10CR history. Only griping because I'm jealous! :P Jim.
  16. Thanks Tim and everyone, good luck and see you all tomorrow and Thursday. Rob
  17. thescrapman wrote:Looks like we might be getting a nice tan.. :-) But isn't everyone in Essex orange already? :) However, judging by your previous trips, Colin, lobster pink is probably more likely.  I've seen the photos. ;) Have fun you jammy buggers! Jim.

  20. Steve as per our conversation, I will meet you Manchester prior to picking up Simon then we will head over the woodhead pass to meet up with Mike Charlton and co. before heading down to the ferry for the 1445 , Maybe we could meet up with Royboy and Tim on the way?
  21. Ah, but the risk of two non-finishes in a row. Oh, the shame. Still a TR7 does look good on the back of a lorry. Apparently they go faster and further that way. ;) Jim.
