  1. I would shop around and get a few choices. a quick google http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/
  2. the oil pressure bit requires a pipe and take off both available from Rimmer or the like, the bad news is the temp sensor bit is broken on yours and needs sending to a specialist to fix and that is not cheap! may be cheeper getting a new gauge.
  3. Call me careful, but I suggest you think long and hard before moving to 15" wheels. The tyre diameter equivalent to 155/80R13 is 195/50R15. If your car is lowered at all, then this size will be too wide, causing fouling on both the front scuttle and the rear arches. Common wisdom on this forum suggests 175/70R13, 175/65R13 and 185/60R13 are "ideal" options. I have also seen 175/65R14 used (once), but it was a standard ride height car. HTH
  4. There are a couple, one in Bury RE Performance and as you say there is mini Sport near Burnley, I have used both and both are very good, however Mini world is slightly bit cheaper. I can confirm that both have good knowlege of HS4 and Webber carbs. Rob http://www.minisport.com/mini-spare-parts/Rolling_Road_Tuning.html http://www.re-performancecentre.co.uk/ PS does anyone know of a decent RR for injection (megasquirt) in the north?
  5. You should have looked over the wall while you were there. You can only get so much into an Alfa Romeo! ;) Jim.
  6. Hi guys, another shout out if there is anyone out there who want a co-driver to share the driving and cost of the event can you please let me know, my mate is still very interested. Thanks Rob

(I used to run my '62 1200 sedan -- 4.5" wheels and 175/70R13s -- around 28-29 front and 32 rear.) re-read my post...typo. I run 27F/28R when touring...
  8. My Vitesse Mk2 saloon (so similar weight): 25psi front & 27psi rear - for "normal" local driving 25psi front & 28 psi rear - for longer distance touring 175/65R13 tyres on 5.5" wheels Arrived at these pressures after experimenting with front and rear alignment, and settings on adjustable shocks. These pressures provide a good balance between comfort and handling - for our preferences anyway!
  9. When I started this thread, I asked a question. As is the way on the Forum, it grew arms and legs with people, who have no interest in taking part, talking the event down and implying that those taking part and those who are organising it are irresponsible. Even Derek Pollock, who was behind the original concept of the event, has weighed in with his comments in the club magazine. It's a very good thing that we have open discussions such as this. It stops us being complacent about things such as safety, the viability in running the event and also where the RBRR might be heading in the future. However, my original question was purely based on statistics. Last year's event had fewer small engined Triumphs taking part as a percentage than ever before. Is there now a perception that you need a big Triumph to take part? Do we need to provide incentives to get more smaller engined cars on the event? Are we becoming a bunch of softies who yearn for the luxuries of our modern cars when taking part? Just asking. Jim.
  10. No snow on the Stelvio today. Looks like they're getting ready for a big foam party. Jim.
  11. Is the wear on the cam lobes or the followers or both? I'd definitely be replacing all of the followers, and seeking professional advice about the cam (whether it is still within tolerances or not). Also, what oil are you using? A high-zinc content oil (Penrite Lite Classic 20w-50, for example) helps reduce wear.

  13. 880 wrote:A combination of all three Peter. I have 6" wide wheels on there at the moment with 185's but I think they will be a bit skinny for the V8. I was thinking 7.5" or 8" wide rears with maybe 225 wide tyres to reduce sidewall flex. My old MR2 had 225 rears from factory and that only had 188BHP to contend with (and it handled very well). I see your thinking, however would respectfully suggest that less is probably going to give you more in this case. I'd suggest 195s on existing 6", or a step up to 205 on 7". Remember the camber angle variation inherent in the rear suspension will start to become a serious issue if you have really wide low-profile tyres and if you have lowered the back-end at all. In the end, you are the owner and driver, so the choice is yours :)
  14. 880 wrote:Awesome, thanks guys. I'm looking at running 340BHP + when the V8 is in there so want to get the widest rears possible. I would like to keep 15" if possible as in NZ 16" wheels aren't that common, so tyre choice is limited and expensive. There's a lot more available in 15" and 17" but 17" would be a bit big I think. Does anyone have pics of pulled arches? Are you wanting to go fast around corners, or in a straight line, or is this project about "looks"? Remember that really wide wheels/tyres will play havoc with the car's handling. Also, most fast racers fit relatively narrow tyres--for good reason. Further, 340 sounds like a lot of horsepower. Are you planning to retain the independent bum, or fit a live axle? My $0.02. Good luck with the project!
  15. When I bought my Vitesse, the deal included replacing the rotoflex/half-shaft assemblies with the Canleys CV-jointed half-shafts. In three years of ownership we have experienced no problems at all. If your budget can stretch, I'd suggest you consider the change.
  16. Another shout out regarding Kev at Work, he is desperate to get a ride in this years 10CR, has anyone got a spare seat/place? has anyone dropped out needs a co-driver? please give me a PM?
  17. I did my Megajolt for less than 200 quid. Not worth it IMHO. Jolt all day long
  18. I managed to get about 6 last year for £20 each saving loads on the price of a Vignette, If we need them again this year, Ill be getting some more
  19. Club Triumph usually get a deal regarding 10cr? is this not the case this time? It is usally an open ended ticket incase there are a few problems??
  20. I extended my tank with by three inches to give a larger capacity and found I had a few pin holes in the weld, so sealed the tank, no issues, slightly different with a rusty tank, but I would open the hole up and weld before the sealant is applied, not everyone can pay out 200 for a new tank, but as I said before I gave a decent tank away they do not go for much on the bay, Rob
