Docman
I recently bought new door top covers for my interior refurb. The old ones were cracked, wavy, glossy black grained plastic. The new ones are a nicer soft-touch vinyl. When I purchased these from VB here in the states, the sales person remarked how they weren't supplied with the back padding. What is the best material to use for the padding? I can't imagine it can be very thick, maybe a 1/4 inch high density foam???My old ones didn't have any.
JensH
Believe only the earlier gt6 had padding at the back side of the door cappings. Wasn't used on the round tail spitfire though (i.e. padding!).A friend of mine has an imported GT6+ (aka mk 2) with original padding. Would say aprox 1/4 inch max. Pete TR7
MkIII, MkIV and 1500 Spitfires had simple ABS plastic just glued to the top of the door, didn,t know GT6 had some thin padding, interesting to know.
TimW
GT6 MK3 has no padding. trim is glued directly to the door tops.
