AJ_Herald1360
Hi I would like to know if it is possible to fit a spitfire tank to my herald 13/60 and have the filler cap in the center of the back
Stodders
You would probably be better off fitting an estate tank and modifying it to have the filler in the centre as these sit on the floor of a herald
AJ_Herald1360
My idea is that I could fit the tank behind the rear seat in the boot
heraldcoupe
It will fit and I've seen it done to a few Heralds. No idea regarding details though,Cheers,Bill.
AJ_Herald1360
cheers for help just idea I had as decided I don't like filler cap on side of car
Nick Jones
Seen it done. Looks ok and has some boot space and impact safety benefits. Filler cap position is not my favourite feature of the conversion though. Look at the way they are mounted in the Spit and apply to the Herald.Nick
rubberhead
the herald secretary in the tssc has got this conversion, looks very smart ,makes boot a lot wider and you only loose a couple of inches depth.not sure what capacity the tanks are though.only drawback i can see is when you fill up ,pipe always has a little dribble after you stop pumping doesnt it,and thats going over your car. 69vitesse
Easy mod and a major boost to the rear end impact safety of the Herald/Vitesse.The original tank position is horribly vulnerable in even a minor rear end shunt - not a reasurring thought on our crowded roads full of teararsing idiots..Big saloon tanks will also fit apparently, but are harder to get hold of in good nick at sensible money.I paid a tenner for my Spit 1500 tank.
