Nick Moore
Somrthing like a 15ACR should fit. They come as left and right handed models though, with the adjusting bar's lug in different positions.
Clive
Loads of alternators fit. One off a fiesta, circa 1990 ish will do. As aboce, the lucas ACR ones are original fitment. Also look at landrover etchttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/landrover-series-alternator-gwo-no-res-bargain-/200616053876?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb5a60c74http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Escort-Mk-3-Fiesta-Alternator-UNIPART-/220781961248?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3367a16020this pic shows the "orientation" you wanthttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A403-Ford-Escort-Fiesta-Alternator-55-Amp-1991-99-/370385839446?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item563cb76556this is the one you do not (is in mountings, plus it is a multi-vee pulley)http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A526-Ford-Escort-Fiesta-90-99-Alternator-70amp-6V-Pulle-/390200193636?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ad9be7264Try to be fussy about what you end up with, I have had poor experiences with even proper Lucas reconditioned units failing very early. Have a search on ebay close to you for alternators, even older renault/vauxhall/rover/metro etc will go on
Deleted User
Nippon Denso seems to be the way to go. Cheap new, even cheaper from the scrappers and utterly reliable.

partsaver
If you go to a parts shop for an ALternator they will sting you for extra money if you dont have an old one.I use the local scrappys, older mins, most fiestas, metros, and rovers all have the correct type, take one of an accident damaged car, shouldnt cost more than £15. Richard B
I bought a Nippon Denso (65amp) off of a 1990's Mazda 323. Have search on eBay for alternator and look at the pictures.
flipp
the small alternator type like witter sell can be found on lots of jap/koreon type cars and fork lifts etc but can need a power supply to energize them,
