philheys100
Hi Guys,Having trouble with starting my MK4 spitfire, I have restoring her, sfter further inspection of my carbs I have noticed that the carb piston needle is bent.Is it possible just to bend back carefully or do I have to buy new? Thanks
junkuser
Possible to straighten but better to replace if you can access one.Tapping methodically with a piece of wood or hide hammer onto a piece of wood and regularly checking progress by rolling the the top, parallel section on a flat surface. Make sure there are no burrs on the top section though, before rolling.
HMaze
I had the same on HS4 carbs last week. There was a reason why it happend:I my case it was an over enthusiastic PO who overtightend the needle guide securing screw and bend the needle guide inwards, so the biased needle was blocked in the guide. So take a good look at the surrounding parts.I replaced the needles and the guides in both carbs.Cheers,Harry
