Rubce
Hi AllCan anyone advise me of the combined weight of a GT6 bodytub fitted with doors, tailgate and windscreen? I am about to build a stand do that I can double stack the tub over the rolling chassis so that both fit in my single garage. That way I can wheel out whichever assembly I am wanting to work on.ThanksBruce
Gt6s
Do not know the weight but you can store them vertical resting on the bulkhead. How do I know this ?
Rubce
HiThanks for that. However I want it on a wheeled trolley for storage and painting purposes. The garage is quite high so double stacking it over the rolling chassis seems the way to go.RegardsBruce

Pretty much any framework will likely hold it without breaking a sweat!!Cheers,Phil

Rubce
Hi AllThanks for the link Jens. That wooden jig makes interesting viewing. The thing that strikes me about that wooden one is how much the framework obstructs access to the body. I am planning on making mine our of metal box section so it will be lighter and smaller and give clearer access for paint preparation. I will keep you informed of progress.RegardsBruce
Eagerbeaver
I would guess at about 150kg, certainly more than 100 and pretty sure it's less than 200.
JensH
Two people can lift a body tub from a spitfire, so you won't need much structure to keep it safe.

Gene Thomas
My 15 year old and I removed our MK3 tub on Saturday. Ours was fully stripped of doors any other components. We found its not so much the weight but its just a cumbersome lump to grab hold of.
