Goody
I hope I got the term right. Peter Wenzel is restoring a Spit for his daughter. The car has duel SU's. He has bought a kit to install a "Wax Choke". Does anyone know anything about these? Do they work? Pete tells me it uses wax that softens and hardens with the engine temp and that open or closes the choke. He would like to know more about this. Clive
Wax stat jets? sounds most likely.Terrible things best avoided.Fit a kit with plain jets and some small conversion parts, or search for the 2p conversion.Honest.

cook1e
Some of the Triumph specialists actually sell kits to convert away from waxstat to fixed jet due to the wax stats being rubbish. They are probably OK when new but they deteriorate with age, fixed jets are much simpler and reliable. Here's a link to the MOSS kit http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=12662
piman
Hello Bill, to elaborate, it is a temperature compensation device for the mixture, but not a choke, that still works manually as normal.Alec
bxbodger
I didn't know you could even still get waxstat jets-why on earth are people still supplying them? I thought the horrible things had been put out to farm years ago, to rest in the same field as HIF stepper-motor chokes and Ford VV carbs.........
