Velocita Rosso
Today saw a large rise in fuel costs. Now around £7.10 a gallon.......I remember it was once six shillings a gallon!🙄

Vader
It’s only going one way. It’ll be £2 per litre before we know it.
Clive
This makes intersting reading (if you are interested in how prices have changed!) http://www.speedlimit.org.uk/petrolprices.html No current price included, but by my reckoning, we are at about the same level compared to 2012ish. Of course, although the table does work on the RPI, maybe it should include median wages too?

thescrapman
It was said on radio that crude is at same level as it was a few years ago, but I don't remember £1.80 litres of diesel a few years ago. Nor do I remember £1 litres of heating oil. Think I need to follow the money chain and buy shares as long as it doesn't end at Rosneft or something similar. Yes ....but I can still remember it....and today they are saying it would rise again shortly to $300.00 a barrel for crude. Tim .....you`ve been raiding Daves old joke book again! Adrianb
I had a Triumph Trophy motor bike 47 years ago and used a couple of Ten Bob notes to fill her up ! Should have kept the bike not that I can ride them!
JohnD
"Ten bob notes"!!! Bet you were paid in white fivers too!

Tim Hunt
Forgot to attach this. I have achieved remarkable economy from the 4A on three occasions - on the back of low loaders returning home from the 1978 and 1982 RBRRs and the 2012 AutoEcosse! Velocita Rosso
Yes just take out a rotor arm and neither an AA,RAC or Green Flag would understand why it wont start.....saves petrol, get recovered!
Tim Hunt
Good wheeze Mike but my failures to proceed were rather more serious. Specifically - a failed water pumpo with no replacement on board, total oil loss and consequently lunched main bearings and a failed head gasket! Dogsbody47uk
When I started riding a Triumph Tiger Cub back in 1964 petrol was about half a crown a gallon, so I could get 8 gallons for £1...Oh well..

OK, I exaggerate but when I checked (pre-"special military operation"), the inflation-adjusted price of petrol was the same as when I passed my test in 1988. thescrapman
When I started driving petrol was £1.10 a gallon, which factoring in inflation is £3.54 now but it is about £7.50, so more than twice the price. Someone is making a bit of profit somewhere.
