Passenger glove box fitting

Hi All,

Started to fit the passenger side glovebox last night and couldnt see an obvious solution for this flap "circled in photo".

Does it attach somewhere or just sit as it is?

In a word no.  In both my Spit and GT6 it is a bloomin nuisence as it drops down. You can't scew it up as that would mean drilling straight through the bonnet slam panel on top of the bulkhead. The only thing I could think of (but not tried yet) would be to use sticky backed velcro.

I undid a nut that holds the wiper wheel box ,attached to that, and refitted nut...............as Mike says ,nowhere else to fit

I have a bit of wood or folded paper (can't remember which) jammed behind the wheel box holding it up.

I made up a clip from sheet aluminium that locates on the demister vent. Not a fix that I'm particularly proud of but it doesn't show and does the job.

The ones bought from Rimmer some were in the late 90ish didn't have any top part (LHD mk 3 spit). My original ones (very early mk 3) either, so is this an addition for later cars?

my mk1 gt6 doesnt have he flap. there was an accessory flap with a speaker in it to fit the exact samen spot.

While were on this subject anyone know what the bit of trim on front edge of glove box is called? mine is shot.
