I have a technical question regarding driving a spitfire on the RBR with the hood down...do your underpants go on the outside or inside of your long johns?

Depends which day it is.

Friday inside
Saturday inside, but back to front
Sunday outside correct way round
Monday outside, but back to front

Neither, A Kilt would be the Best, followed by some thermal leggings, which stop short of the area,s that become blocked, or over flowing, due to being full

Maybe  Mr McJim has a spare  Kilt,!!

then you need a hole cut in the seat, and the floor,
so you can ..evacuate.. the blocked,or over flowing discharge pipes.
:) :) :)(whistle)(whistle)

You're giving away your heritage -- as a GT6 driver.

A kilt with that bit of a draft that somehow finds its way up your leg is the perfect GT6 driving costume.
Shorts are only a near-solution.
