GT6Steve
Was there a CV joint in late Spit propshafts replacing the sliding spline or the straps? If so, was it of adequate size to be used for a driveshaft in the CV joint conversions we're seeing these days?
Nick Jones
Some spit 1500s had CV joint propshafts where the CV also did sliding spline duty. I think I have also heard that these same CV joints do form part of the (not so far available) Canley CV joint driveshafts. There are at least two other routes to do a CV joint driveshaft, both of which are in use on a number of cars and neither or which use these joints. These have been pretty fully chewed over on previous threads. CheersNick
GT6Steve
Thanx Nick,I've been part of that chewing in both this board and the other club.I just spotted a driveshaft in my pile today that had a CV joint and wondered why I didn't cut that to length and use it in place of the TR sliding spline halfshafts I build now? I have no idea if it will take the torque or if replacement bits are available?
