daver clasper
Hi. Phoned them about this. No catch apparently. Dave
sparky_spit
I'm off to buy a pack of fuses.
daver clasper
The only thing was "no buying just a carrier bag". I thought it would be ok for my MOT exempt (they said this was no problem), Triumph, as even if an enthusiastic tester, would give me an idea, that I can check out myself. Velocita Rosso
Quoted from sparky_spit- I'm off to buy a pack of fuses. A pack....Yorkshire branches sell them individually....
davidb5964
Probably very unfair. But not sure Halfords would be my first choice for an MOT!

Spider
Is it just me that is cynical, in thinking they are looking for the repair work when your vehicle fails, as you can not drive it away if it fails?
TedTaylor
Spider has a good point, though the 'cannot drive away' would only apply to certain things. Also as David says - do they use testers who understand classic cars! MUT

MUT Highly doubtful....I use people (sometimes) that know classics, but when you point out certain things, they say...ooh didnt know that! Typical example wheel bearing `looseness`
RobPearce
Quoted from Velocita Rosso- I use people (sometimes) that know classics, but when you point out certain things, they say...ooh didnt know that! My regular MOT man commented (in a rant about exemption) that when a tester is presented with an old car that he isn't familiar with, and doesn't know whether lots of play is actually normal, the correct action would be to show it to the owner and ask. I'm not sure the DVLA would see it that way...
daver clasper
Went to Halfords as I wanted to try Rain X anyway, as my wipers aren't brill. On offer, as buy one, get one free. The free MOT voucher is valid for 10 months apparently, so no rush and will give it a go I think. Would normally support a local garage, but the one have been using, p..... me off last time.
