blueH
I am in need of a new Headlining for my Herald 1200, I am aware that you can purchase this from Newton Commercials for £100,however I spotted a headlining available from James Paddock for £60, has any Forum member bought this item from Paddock'sI am just wondering if it fit's O.K, some time ago got a headlining of Ebay but when I tried to fit it was impossible to fit as it was far to small so this is the reason for my question don't want to buy another headlining that won't fit the Herald Roof.Any information or advise would be appreciated.Norm
Jordon T
I replaced my headlining in my Herald 1200 a few months ago using the headlining kit supplied from James Paddocks. The kit fits well (albeit being slightly over sized), however does need quite a bit of trimming and glueing particularly to the loops in which the metal bars run through. Its a very fiddly job and best done with the roof taken of the car.RegardsJordan :)
blueH
Jordan, thanks for the posting, the good news is the roof is off the car so that is useful, can you explain about glueing the loops as I thought theloops were stitched to the headlining.Norm
Jordon T
Hi Norm, No problem. Having reread what I wrote i've realised my mistake. The loops don't need glueing just cutting around 4 inches in the each end so the lining doesn't ripple. Jordan
pimp my vit
A couple of tips from me. Do it with the roof offGet plenty of bulldog clipsUse double sided tape rather than try to glue the edges, especially if you are going to leave the roof on or the glass still in situ. Paudman
Ah yes.... head linings. As we all seem to agree - do it with the roof off! A little bit at a time and watch both sides, so that you don't glue one side perfectly in place then find the other is too short....This is my estate in 2002, with the headlining just commenced. I could take a similar photo today - it hasn't progressed any since then! I really need to grow a pair and get a move on.
blueH
thanks Guys for the inputs and photos, I am fortunate roof is presently detached from car and the side and rear windowsare also separate from the roof, was wondering which companies headlining you are using for your cars.Norm

Mark Hammond
Estate head linings you can do with the roof on, all others are a roof off operation.Mark
Darren Sharp
Take the roof off its surprisingly easy to do . Back in the Eighties I had a 1200 saloon and as soon as the sun came out off it came ... Instant 4 seater convertible. Bugger if it rained though!Darren
pimp my vit
http://www.vikingtapes.co.uk/c-623-double-sided-tapes.aspx#.UhjQxxYTHzINorm try here...you need a tape that is not very wide 15/20mm and thin, not the foam filled type it should be selotape thickness.
