Sam C
Hi allI have my old starter motor still and have for some time wanted to buy a high torque starter motor but they are very pricey. Can anyone tell me how to make one? I'm assuming it's possible to cobble one together from a starter motor from a different car. Many thanks allSam

willcolumbine
There are a couple of options that I know of. The Isuzu trooper starter is an option. You can also get (or used to be able to get) starter kits from Canleys that allowed you to convert the nippon denso type found on loads of japaneese cars. That's what I've got. It's basically another front casting for the motor with about an inch or so shaved off which it then bolted up to a new mounting plate. You just get a second hand starter, fit the kit and you're in business.
