vitesse dynamo

took car out for a drive battery not charging volt gauge shows 12volts but drops , red light goes out but glimmers when I rev over 2000 rpm, dynamo rebuilt ? done 30 miles battery flat , new battery paul.

Before drawing conclusions, perhaps the wrong ones, do the checks which the old Lucas fault finding recommends

hi paul, use a volt meter on  the terminals on the dynamo, it should read about 14volts. on tickover.
if it does? do the same at the battery it should read the same. if not would suspect the trouble lies with your voltage regulator.
you can try cleaning the points if you can get inside it. if not just fit a new one.
