Antonnick Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 I recently renovated the doors on my 13/60 Herald replacing the wind up mechanisms. Before the Windows were almost impossible to wind up and the rear window channel Fixing lug on one side was broken. Simple welding Job to fix it.Now inside the channel were the remains of some stuff, maybe hardened felt I do not know. I scraped it all out and rustproffed the channel before replacing it. However, without this "infill" the window Rattles a lot when wound down. I have tried to find out what this infill is to order new but the normal suppliers do not seem to list it - or maybe they do but under another Name.Anyone put me in the right direction for the correct item ? marktheherald Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Not sure if you get the entire channel assy, or more likely for the price, the felt.. Part 33 on the diagram, Part T12 on the parts list... https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-13/60-door-assembly https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-13/60-door-assembly Quote
RobPearce Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Item 12 on that Canley diagram is the felt insert for the front runner, showing temporarily out of stock (although the full roll of it is in stock). Replacing that was what fixed the completely jammed passenger window on Tessa. I think the rear channel is probably the same stuff but shorter? Quote
Antonnick Posted June 29, 2017 Author Posted June 29, 2017 Yes that does seem to be the part I Need. and a roll is a good idea to do the front as well as the other door. Thankyou for that, I could not decipher the "Canley codes". 🙂 Quote

I think a roll of the "12" is probably the right one but I do not Need 30 m Quote
heraldcoupe Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 Quoted from RobPearce Item 12 on that Canley diagram is the felt insert for the front runner, showing temporarily out of stock (although the full roll of it is in stock). What's supplied by many traders is a flexible flocked rubber, however the original fitting was a rigid channel as shown in the earlier image, ie the same stuff goes in the back and front channels.I sued to sell this, it should still be readily available from people like Woolies even if Triumph specialists don't carry it,Cheers,Bill. heraldcoupe Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 This appears to match the type I used to supplyhttp://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-1024-rigid-single-track-window-channel.aspx Quote
yorkshire_spam Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 The rigid channel I posted a picture of is a standard Land Rover part. Quote
Paudman Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Quite easily replaced and if secured with small flat-top rivets the glass will roll quite easily once all beds in. Quote
MarkB Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 I replaced this on my Vitesse restoration years ago can't remember where I bought it from, but it pinched and gripped the window to tightly making it impossible to wind up and down. I ended up shaving it down with a scalpel, so there maybe more than one size available out there. Mark Quote
Pete Lewis Posted July 10, 2017 Posted July 10, 2017 if you take the channel out and decide to remove the brackets as the felt is trapped by the rivets do make a sketch or take a photo as these are easy to re assemble and find however careful you are that the brackets refit upsidedown wrong way round and defy any normal strong tea to get them back how it should bethey are devious little s*ds you also need a small diameter long nose pop rivet nozzlePete Quote

They're theoretically designed for the same job, however one manufacturer makes a product with a much softer spine so it complies more readily - this is ideal for fitting in the existing runners at front and rear.Afraid I couldn't tell you who stocks this type, I always bought it from a direct trade supplier. If possible, try and buy it over the counter or at shows where you can get a feel fro whether it will conform,Cheers,Bill. Quote
