TimW
Well I went and did something impulsive. I bought this little beauty. Not really a project as its absolutely rust free and runs extremely well but does need little bits doing. Engine and gearbox mounts, a carb tune and a tiny bit of electrical work. Put a set of tyres on her as the ones that were fitted to the car were 18 years old!
Amy Wade
Very nice car. I don't know why you changed the tyres, 18 years old is practically brand new, my spitfire had 24 year old tyres on it when I bought it.

thescrapman
Has it had a Trackerjack brake upgrade? You may soil a few sets if something hasn't been done.

With 24yo + tyres you are definitely on borrowed time! Any vehicle with > 8 seats will fail an MoT for a tyre older than 10 years at time of test. Cannot see logically why an ordinary car should be treated differently and expect this max 10yr age requirment will be extended to them Tim

thescrapman
24- year old tyres, Pah! They are but mere youngsters. I have 2 ( yes 2) sets of 40 year old Pirelli P6 tyres, loads of tread left on them, gone rock hard so they are going to last forever.

Probably last a lifetime, which may not be that long on those tyres.😁

And I can keep them pumped up really hard.
