Hi All

If another CT member kindly handed you a spare part to allow you to fix your car whilst on a CT event, would you:-

A) send them a replacement part (or it's value in cash)  afterwards?

B) Just take it as being a gift?

For clarity I am not talking about small items costing less than a tenner.

Thoughts?

Regards

Bruce

I loaned items and borrowed them on events. IMHO they should be returned, if possible, to the original owner so you can borrow them again next time 😀

My 5L new can of oil covered an RBRR and two 10CR's before I finally managed to be in the same place at the same time so it could be handed back. That was fine by me.

Cheers

I think I would be miffed if somebody borrowed an alternator (or similar) and didn't return or replace it.

Consumables etc, no I don't expect anything, it is a give and take sort of thing. I have had assistance, and given assistance on events. Nothing more than a few quids worth, to me helping is enough.

Beyond A. A++ If somebody has stopped for you and taken time out of their run to raid their stash to get you back on the road they deserve as a minimum the part returned (or a replacement in the same or better condition) and a few beers/beer vouchers as a thank-you!

This happened to me on the last 10CR, I had a spare refurbished Lucas PI fuel pump in my boot and was able to give it to replace one which had stopped working, in Kempten and they then completed the run. In return I got a refurbished one sent back to me.

I liked the way some nice chaps in a dolomite responded when I gave them a bottle of brake fluid (their car was slowly losing fluid, their spare had run out at Pimperne)

I was offered cash there and then, or replacement when I next saw them. I declined, I was more than happy to help and had just scoffed cakes and a cuppa or 2. Happy days.
