Royboy66 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Having a white Mk1 GT6 I never really liked the orange lenses next to the clear side light lenses, and the clear reverse lenses, So I fitted clear indicator lenses with chrome covered bulbs that flash orange Trouble is they dont really flash very brightly, so Im looking to replace them with something brighter !Any reccomendations on what will work ?? Royboy66 Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Flash a bit fast you mean James ? There a little box of elektrickery that can sort that out ?
Dannyb Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 You can buy the electronic flasher unit for the LED bulbs. But don't forget the change the warning light on the dash to LED or it won't work. I know.
Saltddirk Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 just go for normal amber bulbs without that shiny coating.I have them in mine, work great. Normal flashers dont work with LED bulbs, not enough load, you need to buy a new one designed to be used with LEDS or add a ballast Dirk
James1500 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I have leds in mine and I'm changing back to normal bulbs, reason being, the hot spots on the lenses point at the ground on mine so in the day they appear very dim and people just don't look for them at night they were great though
herald948 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 My understanding about LED automotive bulbs is that, for the brightest output, you need to have amber LED bulbs behind an amber lens, red LED bulbs behind a red lens, etc. It has something to do with filtering:http://d114hh0cykhyb0.cloudfront.net/images/products/car/white-red_comparison.jpgWhile I appreciate the "quicker response" of the LED bulb and might consider them for a stop/tail lamp, I like the slower response of a traditional bulb for flasher lamps...but that's just me.... :)
Anthony Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Has anyone got any pictures of the LEDs they're using?I've used LEDs in various cars with absolutely no issues, and they're so bright they're blinding
junkuser Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Sunbeam Talbot used amber glass covers that fitted over the "bulb" to achieve this, but I'm not sure if they will fit inside our lamps.
