RMC590L
Hi everyone, i am posting this for a friend so hope it makes sense!I want to increase the rolling road ratio on my standard MK1 2000 manual O/D by fitting larger wheels.I was going to fit MK2 rear trailing arms and new drive shafts, but if i do will TR6 wheels fit?Does any one know if 14" Stag wheels or TR3-4 Â 15" Â 4.5J wheels will still fit with out rubbing the bodywork? Also does any one know the offsets ? as i would like to be able to fit chrome hub caps or roystyle trims.Any help would be great. Thanks.
thescrapman
to fit TR6 wheels, keep the Mk1 rear suspension.14" Stag wheels will be fine whatever suspension you have.Cheers
Nick Jones
Did you mean that you want to increase the rolling radius - thus raising the overall gearing?Fitting larger wheels will only do this in conjunction with fitting suitable tyres as it's possible for a wheel & tyre combination to reduce the rolling radius even if the wheel diameter is bigger. EG OE 185/80 13 has a diameter of 626mm whereas 195/60 15 is less at 615mm.Couple of useful calculators here:http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/gearspeed/http://www.brspecialtuning.co.uk/Tyre%20size%20calculator.htmPresumably the car has a 4.11: differential at present. Another way to raise the gearing is to change the diff for a 3.7:1 version from a 2000 auto or later 2000 manual. Either method will make your speedo under-read.Nick
