If we are talking the same one, it was dark but open. Only a one hole'er outhouse ment long line.  Though you could not see it form the A9 it was only a short distance away.  Don't remember if they had hot coffee.  But hay we aren't going to stay longer than to get gas anyway.

No, Beans is talking about a "24 hour" garage that wasn't at Newton St Boswells in the Scottish Borders.

Thankfully there was a margin of error that got us to Dreghorn Services on the Edinburgh City By-pass.

Then there was the "24 hour" garage at Hayle that wasn't, either.

Still we had enough petrol to get to Tesco's at Penzance on the way to Land's End.

Knowing the location of the Tesco's garage came in handy when the water pump went coming back out from Land's End for somewhere to pull over and for Beans and Bodders to sort it out with a new water pump supplied by Triumph specialist David Aspinall from East Anglia.

That's what I love about this club.

Everyone stops to help when you have a problem, be it on the RBRR, 10CR or whatever.

So, if everyone could carry a gallon of petrol for me for when I find another "24 hour" garage, I'd be much obliged. :)

Jim.

Hello All.  In case it is of use, I live 1.5 miles from Carter Bar so may be able to help out with the RBRR stop during the next run.  One day I'll join the run but need to get the Spit on the road before I do!  I can help scope out other control stops in the area if you like but note that the 'Otterburn Services' spoken of here has been closed for a long time and has been for sale for some time.  I would recommend you continue to use the Carter Bar as it has a large parking area (and my garage is close by if essential repairs are required!).  Happy to help if needed though.

Regards,

David

Me?

Quiet?

Tim, behave yourself! :)

Lack of a Triumph has had me looking at other challenges.

Currently looking at the Top Gear Land's End to Lowestoft run at midsummer.

Spoke to David Huddy last week and we're both up for Carter Bar again.

Let me know if you want me to contact Transport Scotland and Northumberland Council again or I can e-mail you the appropriate contacts if you wish.

Jim.

Jim,

Thought you'd bugggered off to the Mazda MX5 Drivers Club?

Keep me informed about the cross country event, may be interested.

Be good if you could send me the Carter Bar details and I will sort. But, we would love it if you could marshal again, you are an important part of the RBRR!!!

Tebay as well???

I believe Martin is up for it?

Best if you keep quiet about us English and our drink preferences this year!!!???
