MikeTeesside
Hi guys. One thing I noticed while driving the GT6 was the apparently lack of a steering lock. Just wanted to make sure if there truly isn't any or if I'm just being dumb! When you turn the steering all the way right or left, it'll almost turn in a perfect circle but the wheels are so far over it's like it's trying to drive up its own wheel arch.To clarify; on the Alfa 105 I drove it has bolts to act as bump stops. The GT6 doesn't appear to have anything at all to stop its steering travel, other than when it naturally bottoms out. It's a Mk1.
CHRIS211083
Steering lock was optional later on but the key is moved half way down the steering column. The last spitfire 1500's had modern type key steering and a different column.Wheels will turn very far when at the lock and the car will "crab" or slide if the clutch is not let out slowly. This gives these cars a better turning circle than a london taxi.Chris.
MikeTeesside
Interesting.. mine definitely doesn't have one then. It's a very early Mk1.I think my tyres are quite wide, too. It'll try to climb up its own front ARB at full lock. Makes for some interesting sounds for onlookers.
yorkshire_spam
Do you mean steering lock (as in steering won't turn without key in) or steering lock-stops. As in something adjustable that stops the travel of the wheels?

MikeTeesside
Steering lock-stops.My Mk1 doesn't seem to have them, they just.. stop.. when the rack reaches the end of its run.
