2009poolesparky
Good morning everyoneI am going to be changing the oils on my car soon. The engine, box and diff.I have all the oils and filters already, but I can see the engine and box sump plugs are the original square head ones, without magnets. There are lots to choose from online, varying in price also, but off hand does anyone know what length thread size and pitch it needs to be so I can find a magnetic replacement.ThanksAlex
john2502
Always a good idea. Got my engine one from Canleys for the GT6. Can't help with dimensions I'm afraid but seemed a nice well made item at a good price.http://www.canleyclassics.com/engine/magnetic-drain-plug
yorkshire_spam
I'd guess it's a tapered BSP thread, but don't know for sure.
yorkshire_spam
Although a quick search suggests they may be NPT? So ignore my guesses!
andy thompson
Hole thread is standard 3/8 BSP Plug is 3/8 BSP Taper
Jonny-Jimbo
Would that explain why they always leak haha.
nang
Sorry to contradict but plugs are 3/8" NPT 18 TPI. Not too much difference but BSP is 19 TPI.Tony.

Jonny-Jimbo
I have heard BSPT before, but I can't say for certain.
nang
Quoted from Spitfire6 Hi, that might explain why they are a * to remove sometimes as well?So NPT? BSPT, BSPP? 18TPI? 19TPI? what size are they for sure?I'm only guessing when I say American NPT.Cheers,Iain. OK a definitive size for you all......found one of my mutilated, square headed plugs today which I thought I'd tossed out.....definately 18 TPI so definately NPT. (naughty)Tony.
