Jimmmy0_0
Hi AllMy wipers are not traveling though their full range, the play in the system seems to be in the wiper motor gearbox as the car is a mk1 pi its a two speed motor. My question is are the single speed and 2 speed gearboxes the same? (hoping I can swap the motor over)If their not does anyone know where I can get the one I have overhauled?Cheers James
nang
Are you sure it's not the wheelbox's that the arms attach to? If you try to move the arms is there much freeplay..? If so they're probably worn.Tony.
Pete Lewis
some parts are available places like http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/its worth remove the wiper arms, stick a card needle on the spline at 12 oclock ,pull the cord rack out and note position of needle and turn 1 it 180 degrees, re fit rack check needle is now at 6 oclock so rack runs on unworn gear wheel in the wheel boxyou should also turn the rack cord over half turn or fit a new onemake sure all the tube clamps are tight and grip the tubes , you want no shift on these tubes .just some ideasPete
Rod 2500S
Gday Jamesall advice above is good. If you have some tools and bits and pieces you may be able to shim some of the looseness out of the gearbox mechanism but otherwise buy a new one.CheersRod
