marktheherald
Didn't the BBC feature this company on one of their programmes some time ago? Countryfile or similar?
Mark Hammond
That car used to belong to long term Triumph enthusiast Leon Guyot. I remember him owning it but it wasn't electrically powered then.Mark

Mark Hammond
I believe that it was one of the quicker Heralds out there at the time.....Mark
Nick Jones
I remember him turning up at Triumph Care in Kingston in it in about 1986 while I was working there part time. It was gleaming red and he had to park it next to my scabby old 1200, which was suffering badly from the mange at the time.Nick
marshman
No mention of cost? Anyone any idea of how much the conversion would cost?
Clive
Simply put,not cheap!decent electric motors and batteries are still expensive.
andymcp
How does the brake servo work? They could have saved a bit of weight by removing that. Then again, with the weight of all those batteries...
Bitumen Boy
When you look at the cost of the batteries, the range they'll give and the likely lifespan, the fuel economy of the old Triumph engines doesn't look too bad at all... 🙂
Nick Jones
Quoted from marshman No mention of cost? Anyone any idea of how much the conversion would cost? £ 5 - 6 K minimum. Necessary parts are expensive here. I've been kicking the idea around for a few years now, but always comes back to cost. Lead acid......... why? Better things available now, yes even pricier but performance/weight so much better and beginning to find their way onto the used market as accident damaged EVs and hybrids get broken for spares. No brake servo on a Herald..... Ironically the extra weight from the batteries probably makes one more necessary.Nick
Steve AKA vitessesteve
Talking about cost: Quoted Text Dragon Electric Vehicles build high performance electric Sports cars, designed for both road and track. This sprint car chassis is designed for hillclimb events where the high torque of electric motors can be used to give tremendous acceleration. A rigid spaceframe chassis is needed to ensure accurate handling when large amounts of torque are applied to the road. DIY conversion kits start from £7000+vat, and conversions from £11000+vat. ahebron
It probably has an electric vacuum pump to create vacuum for the servo.Adrian
