Nick Jackson (2)
Spotted on my GT6 Mk2 inner wheel arch is this large bolt/nut but it's missing from the other side. What does it do and should I just blank off the other side where it's missing?ThanksNick
rotoflex
If it's on the driver's side, it may have been some non-factory seat belt attachmient point.
Sheepy
Yes that defenately a seat belt anchor bolt. They are unique to seat belts, you can tell because they are a shallow head (not very thick) to allow the plastic cap clearance. And the washer/spacer is so shaped to allow the bolt to be tightened yet still allowing the plate to move. But I would say that is for the shoulder mount, (normally on the pillar in cars) as the base mount for the enersia (if that's how it's spelt ;D) is normally fixed, not swivelling.Just blank it off, weld a small plate in the hole, grind it smooth, then it's as good as new.CheersShaun

Tim Bancroft
Nick,The hole just below, is that the same size and thread size? You will need the fixing if you intend to fix inertia seat belts.
gfiandy
Before you cut that off, isn't it the mounting point for the belt guid. My Spitfire has a belt guid just about there so the belt feeds over the top of the chair.Regards,Andrew
Nick Jackson (2)
Don't worry I'm not going to touch it, but I'll either blank off the hole the other side or get another bolt to fit. Either way I can't have a hole in my wheel arch.
Paudman
It's the shoulder mounting point for the static seatbelt. I don't have inertia belts so can't say if they require it or not but the static ones certainly do, otherwise you'll end up with a long lap belt.
