SpitfireAddick
Hi,Has anyone tried putting tyres with 'White Letters' (Like the one below), on their Spitfire? Does/ will they suit the car? Where's the best place to buy these sort of tyres or any other alternative? Thanks James
Rychu
Hi James, you can buy paint pens in all sorts of colours and do this to whatever tyres you already have.Naff in my opinion but each to their own and as long as you like it nothing else matters. :)Richard
WIMPUS
I knew someone did it to his Volvo 240 a few years ago, only a shame that the tyres where a chinese brand and because of the white letters you could see that from far away :P
john2502
Not seen a spitfire with them on but a quick google brings the image up on this page (green car), http://www.totallytriumph.net/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=read_count&om=419&forum=DCForumID4I had white letter tyres on my mustang, seems to be much more of an American muscle/classics kinda of thing. This place were recommended highly by the mustang lot, not used them myselfhttp://www.northhantstyres.com
SpitfireAddick
Yeah I've had a look at the pen option, I can't imagine it's exactly easy to do especially when you have the artistic skills of a Potato :'(... And the fact people say it wares off quickly too.Yeah I only have cheap 'Avon' tyres at the moment so it won't look too classy ??)Looking at that photo in the link, it doesn't actually look too bad there in my opinion. I'll check that website out, thanks.James
Pit Pony
I have just changed my tyres to Yoko's but prior I had Goodyear with white writing and I liked the look after all that's what I had in the late 70's with Goodyear Grand Prix S

MikeTeesside
I can't recommend the pens, the paint isn't that flexible and last time I did it all the paint just flaked off within a week.As for the pre-coloured ones, I think they look better on larger tyres. American classics with their big wide tyres suit them quite a lot.
Bainzy
Used special tyre paint, ended up with 5 coats to get a good, reliable finish. Any less and it browns too quickly, and even with 5 it will still go brown eventually so will need touching up every so often. Not sure I'd bother again but it looked very race-y.
