Jason1969 Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Next one, any recommendations for a supplier of a fuse box for a 1500, checked rimmers who have it but quite expensive for what it is. Any other solutions or bite the bullet and replace with the original one? Thanks Quote
nang Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Nah, you need more fuses than that. Get a modern one with blade fuses. Auto elec suppliers will have them.Tony. Quote
WIMPUS Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 The new (original type) fuse boxes are very bad quality i found .. I replaced one several months ago on a 1500, fuse box came from rimmer.it actually had even more bad connection then the old one !, the plastic is also a bit wrongly made.I eventually put back the old connectors and then put them in the new plastic, was better but still.. I've put a blade 2 , 4 blades on my spitfire.Using it as a daily for nearly 3 years and never got a problem with it 😉 Quote
Jason1969 Posted July 7, 2016 Author Posted July 7, 2016 Thanks both, will need to do something with this, shame about the remanufactured parts Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 What i've done 🙂Sorry , link no longer available Quote
stevegt6 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Vehicle wiring products - they have good stuffCar builder solutionsEbay - generally find the same stuff cheaperI have 2 identical 'marine' spec fuse boxes from 2 different sources at 2 very different prices - and they are identical....same code numbers on them etc...Recommend swapping out for upgrade to blade fuses and increase the number of fused circuits.I have seen some neat internal upgrades on here, as well as in the standard location - which is what I opted for. Nick Moore Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I fitted a Bussmann fuse box to my GT6. It sits flush in the bulkhead and has 24 blade fuses. 12 are wired to a permanently live bus and the other 12 are energised by the ignition key. It's also modular, so I'm sure there are smaller versions than mine. Bought off eBay, which was cheaper than other suppliers. Quote
stevegt6 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Liking that Nick - Idea of 'live' and 'switched' bussbars 😎Could be the distant notions of an upgrade to mine on the horizon Quote
Jason1969 Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Very neat Nick, I like that. I'm going to get the car back on the road and MOT'd and then I'll play with this. Thanks Quote
Nick Moore Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Not my idea, I pinched it off Craig Trimble (GT6Mk3). Mind you, when you start splitting up circuits and adding fuses for individual functions, you find that even 24 aren't enough! Quote
stevegt6 Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Quoted Text Mind you, when you start splitting up circuits and adding fuses for individual functions, you find that even 24 aren't enough Errrr..... I can't even name 24 electrical items on my GT6 😀 ....Get close if start to split front/rear and left/right, but a bit extreme I think having 5 fuses for your indicators Quote
