AlanChatterton
I'm being a bit canny this year.I have sold advertising space on the side of the car, in return for fuel money! So far I have sold the front doors to Sam's hotel, the back doors to a well known Triumph 2000 Specialist, the bonnet to my mates Classic Restoration company and my local autofactors are having the rear wings.Just got the front wings to go........... so far I think about 2/3's of my fuel bill is covered!!!Now that's just genius!!! Clive
Is with Ford power OK? 90% triumph.Which reminds me, really must do an oil change. Then its comfort stuff. And maybe get the 2 speed wipers working on 2 speeds.CliveBTW I have always understood the RBRR entry was self-financed, all money raised going to the charity? I will stop before I get carried away on this one :-/
heraldmanblue
[quote=jcarruthers]Shouldn't that really be charity money?but surely if selling advertising space lets him take part, raising charity money otherways, and if he doesnt use the advertising money for petrol, means he has to pull out, then the charity looses out why the problem?????? or am i being daft????????????? Tim Bancroft
Ellis had to use the SAAB on the 10CR as he blew the diff up just before the Dartford river crossing on the M25 on the first leg. The guy had done so much work it would have been awful for him to not done the event.3no. RBRR Organisers are doing the event, 2 are being sensible and 1 is being daft.Jason: AtlasJames: 2000 mk1Tim: 2.5Pi(SU)

Slimboyfat
And where would the fun/challenge be in that (2.5 engine)? Having done my fair share of RBRR's in larger engine cars I am finding them less of a challenge as each year gos by and the roads get better (more dual carriageways/bypasses). The RBRR was supposed to have been designed so that a 948 Herald could easily participate. Going back 40 years before dual carriageways, bypasses, and a fraction of the motorway network that must have been pretty hardcore. At least this was my thinking as we breezed around in the Stag last time, the V8 saloon before that, the TR5, blah, blah, Ask me if my opinion has changed after (if?) we have completed this one............
