  1. ebay is your firend, plenty of both on there , same for vitesse, Tr etc :-)
  2. thought it looked familiar! Costco prices are usually pretty keen but you are limited to Michelin (and more recently one other big brand that I can't remember!)
  3. got a pair of CD125's on an alexander manifold for a 1200 herald stashed somewhere I think   :)
  4. I'm reading the original question a little differently.  I think that the OP is asking what needs to be done to upgrade his Tr4 4-pot to a 6-pot - not recreate a TR5?    :-/
  5. I've often wondered about that. the Stag/Saloon is less of a problem as the slave can be accessed from underneath - without a jack if you park on a kerb! I was thinking of the Dolly, which is high up on the gearbox like the Spit/GT6 but totally inaccesible without removing the tunnel - which is a mare of a job. I had already contemplated making up a brake pipe and taking it though the side of the tunnel to somewhere under the dash, so you could pump and bleed from the same place, but have not worked out how to get around piping from a rubber mounted vibrating unit (engine/box) to a fixed hole in the tunnel and solid termination somewhere on the body.  Small flexi pipe or similar required I think! A pipe up to the head or similar would work well but you would still need an easi bleed or assistant to pump!

  7. Danbury Auto electics is the one Mike is referring to I think, I use Richard at Starternator Services in Tiptree - old school chap working from a big shed in his back garden!

no clues on Canley's website, but Rimmers list "early" as being up to KC5000 so looks like I may be lucky?   :)

DJB_Harvey wrote:As I said ... If goes straight on with no mods required . Also to note is the early Mk1 engine with the breather on the side is the " Wide Bearing small diameter crank " variety .. The sweetest engine of all the 6 cylinder range .... Revs well too especially with a PI cam installed ( 308778 ) does the same apply to GT6 Mk1 engines?  Did the cranks differ on them also, if so when?
  15. Just read this . . . . . . http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/news/general/800022831/new-windscreens-for-classics/
  16. Just found the thread with the other info I remembered in [Sorry, link no longer available]

  18. your top shock bushes look very thick. Standard ones end up at aound 10mm when compressed.  Why not compromise slightly and try and fit a much thinner bush underneath the top plate. The trouble I could see wrt going solid is that I think there will be some sideways tilting movement between the shock top and the top mount plate as the suspension traverses.  This is why the top plate is flexibly mounted, along with the noise/vibration damping properties (obviously not a concern to you) However, what I would add is that if you have not enough travel for the length of shock you have and intended ride height, then maybe what you actually need is a different spec shock?
  19. Chris, still hoping to help but I too cannot be there first thing as I am on the night shift until 0730 then have a couple of hours drive! Will need to confirm the week before one way or other just in case childcare gets in the way!

    Rear Axles.

spacer sounds like it will work - but do you have a pair of matching trailing armsa and chassis brackets.  They differ short to long.  If you have had a short shaft fitted you may well have short shaft radius and brackets too? Failing a trip to the UK, how about waiting for one of your fellow countrymen to visit and monopolise their hand luggage! Two just been over for RBRR  :-)
  21. could be tempted myself, may be passing by in a couple of weekends but would need to confirm!
