  1. Nice period brochure picture of that seat locking catch in the latest club mag on page 43!
  2. Did you have 2 mark? I bought one from you!  :) Did you find out if the rear wings were heritage ones?
  3. Clive, It depends on what route you take! I will pm you my address so you can see where we are. The renown is at dirks, about a km down the road, along with his other oldies. I just have the spit, unimaginable and amphibious truck at my place!  :)
  4. Clive, while your over at spa, if you have time your always welcome to pop round for a tea or beer!  ;) As for the route, I personally like to drive with other triumphs, perhaps not in a convoy of 20 or so, but to see others from time to time, have a laugh, like on the RBRR as we shot past the slow saloons in the renown! For me it's all about enjoying the route, scenery and the camaraderie! Is there a "dip" in the sea planned? Just wondering if I need to dust of the mankini   ;D

  6. All the road rubbish collects on top of the breather hole and sits around the split pin so I modified it  :)
  7. While the diff was in pieces I fitted a drain plug. Was going to use the original style one, (with the square head) but it was just too long, so I fitted this one from my stock (it's Land Rover)  ;)

    Pistons

piman wrote:Hello Mike, "1-3/4" thick Meehanite Cast Iron or Aluminum Tooling Plate give maximum rigidity and resistance to permanent distortion and most closely simulate the stresses induced on the cylinder wall by the cylinder head when it is torqued in place. In addition, these materials have essentially the same coefficient of expansion as cylinder heads, important to those honing at operating temperature." Alec We have some 40mm thick ally plate (military grade) at work if any one fancies making one  ;) The mill is down at work so I can't do it until it's up and running again (no idea when they will get it done)!
  11. It's all now stripped and cleaned, and inspected. In generally excellent condition, but it was from my mk3 and that has not done too many km's The bearings were a little gooed up from being sat for so long, so all will be replaced. The parts came from canleys (thanks Dave) so I can now replace all the bearings etc.
  12. On the operating table!  ;)
  13. ferny wrote: I can indeed confirm. :) He also has a very good wheel brace, plenty of bricks and between them he and Dirk have plenty of needed Triumph parts. ;D ah perhaps i shall need some mx5 parts!   ;)
  14. Just make sure when you order those clear lense ones that they don't have the hole for the small side light in the back. A friend bought some for his defender, and they had the side light hole, so he had to put some tape over it, it doesn't look good! (Unless you want to use it as an additional light!)
  15. each has their own opinion, but i personally prefer the look of a de-bumpered mk3!  :)
  16. Rimmer bros have them, not sure where they are made though so don't know if you could go straight to the manufacturer http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RKC3395AL Cheers
  17. I would love to do an ejector seat! But I think it could be a little illegal  ;D
  18. It's aftermarket. Could be for Extra lights, or ejector seat etc etc Do like Wim says, trace the wires, see where they go. Perhaps there are no wires connected anymore! Or the item that was there has been removed! Let us know what you find Cheers Shaun
  19. Could be original, could be aftermarket! We need a picture to help us help you!  :)
  20. JohnD wrote:Difficult to see in that pic, Speedy, but is there a small wheel arch extension there? I could do with some for my fronts (relax all originalists - GRP bonnet) with 6J 185x60s and spacers to clear the 2-pots. John he beat me to it John, but he needs the arches for those ooh soooo lurvely wide steels! There was a full build thread on retro rides I think if I'm correct, some nice work, and a nice chap. I am going to get my steels widened by him when I'm at that stage of the build!  :)
  21. yes plenty of overflow space!  ;D but we are not going to need any of it! just thinking out loud, if we do go to the start on the wednesday, perhaps we could organise a stop at our place for a cuppa, then travel onwards to Aarchen in convoy!  ;)

    Chassis Paint

10061 wrote:I used rustbuster (bought from a seller on on the bay.) 2part paint system brushed on seems to be working ok. I will also vouch for this, I used it on my amphibi, it can be brushed or sprayed. They also sell very good fuel tank sealer! Cured my leak! But don't mix more than you will need, I did it in pots, and one time I had some left over, when I went to it the next day it had gone all hard, but a rubbery hard if that makes sense, good product. I will be using this for my chassis (when I get to that stage)  :)

  24. 413 wrote:Many thanks Sheepy! Having broken down (Gearbox failure ) in Germany (10CR 2011), this would take  a lot of stress out of an unfortunate situation! It must make the long trips very stressful knowing "what if I break down, and the headache that goes with it" Plus I have heard of others being charged stupid amounts for "storage" fee while they wait for the car to be retrieved, so it's my pleasure if it helps! It will give the horses something new to look at!
  25. michael_charlton wrote: .......or fifty others....my god your driveway will be a bit cluttered;) Ha ha no problem, I have lots of room (ask ferny) it would look like we was having a classic triumph meeting at my place! Hey not a bad idea, I could charge tickets for the locals to come and view the cars!  ;)
