Back in the day, these cars ran on 5 Star fuel, during the fuel crisis of the early '70s people were running then on anything, 2 Star, lawnmower fuel and whatever, but you need to retard the ignition timing to prevent pinking and running on on anything but 98RON. Mark

Well as Colin says, they look like the input shaft bearing or what was the bearing. I'd pull it apart sooner rather than later and remember, a stitch in time saves nine..... Mark

Interesting because my old Dolomite Sprint which was a 1974N reg came from LTG Royston (Herts) when new, but that doesn't show up on that directory..... Mark

If you tie cotton thread around the clip and leave a long tail on it first, it saves you losing them in the bottom of the door when they ping off. Mark

No, Thompson & Taylor (Brooklands), were a separate dealer that originally were Triumph, but changed to Volvo sometime in the 1970s. It is now a Fired Earth kitchen showroom. Portsmouth Road is 5 minutes walk from the now Waitrose. Mark

All but the latest convertibles had crossed flags. Only the Vitesse had full length side mouldings including the tiny extension the other side of the fuel filler. Mark
