  1. Maybe the locating pin within the barrel is broken?  Or is it the whole unit rotating in the dash? Mark
  2. What car and year Dave?  Dash switch or steering lock switch? Mark
  3. Back in the day, these cars ran on 5 Star fuel, during the fuel crisis of the early '70s people were running then on anything, 2 Star, lawnmower fuel and whatever, but you need to retard the ignition timing to prevent pinking and running on on anything but 98RON. Mark
  4. Well as Colin says, they look like the input shaft bearing or what was the bearing.  I'd pull it apart sooner rather than later and remember, a stitch in time saves nine..... Mark
  5. You are correct and not dreaming. Mark
  6. Hmmm, postcodes and 'phone numbers tie up with that period too.  I wonder why LTG Royston aren't there. M.
  7. Interesting because my old Dolomite Sprint which was a 1974N reg came from LTG Royston (Herts) when new, but that doesn't show up on that directory..... Mark
  8. If you tie cotton thread around the clip and leave a long tail on it first, it saves you losing them in the bottom of the door when they ping off. Mark
  9. If you tie cotton thread around the clip and leave a long tail on it first, it saves you losing them in the bottom of the door when they ping off. Mark
  10. Canleys do an alloy pump that is rebuildable.  Perhaps their repair kit would fit yours? Mark
  11. No, Thompson & Taylor (Brooklands), were a separate dealer that originally were Triumph, but changed to Volvo sometime in the 1970s.  It is now a Fired Earth kitchen showroom.  Portsmouth Road is 5 minutes walk from the now Waitrose. Mark
  12. Late Toledo has fine spline/single rail 'box, unless I just dreamt it. Mark

    Side Trim...

All but the latest convertibles had crossed flags.  Only the Vitesse had full length side mouldings including the tiny extension the other side of the fuel filler. Mark
  14. Even the A60 had a grommet in the tunnel to check the gearbox oil level. Mark
  15. It'll fit but why would you want to?  LT77 horrible, heavy, clunky old 'box. M.
  16. Leave it well alone until it gives grief. Mark
  17. Welcome back!  I for one have really, really, really missed this thread!  I know that you've still been around but I can't wait to see the finished GT6! Mark
  18. I know that.  I thought that the OP was wondering which 'box was fitted in one of his posts..... M.
  19. Where is reverse?  Next to 4th-saloon/Dolomite Sprint, next to 1st-Vitesse/GT6/Early Dolomite 1850, next to 3rd-Late Dolomite 1850.  Has the car got Overdrive? Mark
  20. Ha ha!  I have an earlier one for my Herald.  I wonder how many dealers in those directories are still in business? Mark
