patkatejake
Do the Mgf Studs fit straight onto the existing Spitfire hubs? Thanks
Beans
TR7 also has 12mm studs ...As do loads of other cars.
Deleted User
remember you might need a small alloy spacer for the rear wheels
patkatejake
Not sure what you mean about the spacer.I've got the wheels on the car at the moment using temporary unf nuts and the alloys seem to fit tight up to the hub?Am i missing something? Thanks
AndyV
MGF M12 studs are same as Rover 100 (later metro) to widen your search. Probably same on Meastos, Montegos, 200s 600s and 800s too (Definitly 800s as I had them fitted)CheersAndy

Nick Jones
Rover 400s are different....... I tried them! Splined bit that goes in the hub is too small.Nick

[/quote]Not too keen on some of the new ones which have been made in recent years. We were at the CT National Day day at Brooklands about 3-4 years ago, when a Bond owner lost a wheel on the way in, after four new studs sheared.Cheers,Bill. Deleted User
yeap i lost a front wheel on new studs at 40mph, threads and strength of metal just isn't as good as the old ones.
AJ.Lintern
I'm getting some 13" x 6" 4-spoke revs. Should I use new longer studs? The wheels were originally from a TR7, so the nuts are M12 anyway - any idea what length studs I'd need to get?

AJ.Lintern
Well I bought those exact studs from the same seller last week. Not fitted them yet though...
CharlieB
So are people saying the M12 (metric) stud has the same shank diameter as the standard 3/8" (imperial) stud, seems very unlikely. Or do you have have drill out the holes in the hub?Surely a 7/16" TR6 or Ford stud like Andre's is more likely to fit?
Deleted User
yes the metric ones fit straight in (the UK ford escort post 72 etc ones are metric btw)

JP
I'm assuming by getting the Metric ones off Ebay that I can use standard MGF nuts to match my wheels ?

AJ.Lintern
Right well I've been attempting to fit those same ebay studs today. Firstly they're too long and secondly they need quite a bit of material filed off the heads to allow them to fit the front hubs. The holes in the hub are the correct size though fortunately.I am a little concerned about filing the heads - is this just accepted when fitting M12 studs? or are there some available which don't need modifying? :-/
