WIMPUS Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Hi all, many of you will probably know me 😁 Didnt update my post on the old forum as I could not upload pics. Hopefully all the old parts are not in the bin.. Oh well, Fox had a bit of work done in the past months ! -2nd hand rear light panel -new windscreen gutters and repairs -2nd hand boodlid (Thanks again to Mike Charlton for keeping hold of it for 5 years! ) -NOS rear valance -2nd hand Ex-usa bonnet + NOS wing -new outer sills + strenghteners +various panels Etc etc Started in the october school holiday with the rear end... WIMPUS Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Before new sills could go on.. Time to fit another door and bonnet. At my work (school) they did all the prepwork for me. Quote
WIMPUS Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Then christmas and new year holiday. Really took her off the road.. Then sills ! Old strenghtners where changed in the 90's i guess.. but never connected up good to the rear end 🤨 + now all spot welded with the spot welder at work. That made it 'easy'. Seat belt mountings /floor remade as they where rotten to.. Quote
WIMPUS Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 Then the rear end became bare metal .. and primed. Quote
WIMPUS Posted May 3, 2021 Author Posted May 3, 2021 This weekend some more bodywork on the rear (some minor dents.. And put the sills in primer to (i will miss the green zink phosphate paint color 😁 ) Now to find time to take the door apart, fully strip it, sandblast some rust away and put it in primer. And windscreen out and fix some rust and put it in primer. Bonnet needs some work to. But shes still daily on the road and now done 321.000kms (nearly 200.000miles). Now shes really a primered colored Spitfire ! 😅 3 Quote

Its mostly for people +18 that want to learn something in evening school or dayschool. And we also give lessons to 15 to 15 year old that work, but need to come 1 or 2 days to school each week. We give all kind of automotive classes (moderncars , oldtimer cars, metalshaping , bodywork etc etc ) Also bicycle and motorbike repair. And also like hairdressers, dog grooming, safety classes etc To much to say it all 😁 Sometimes famous CT Triumphs pass at my work to. In 2017(i think) there was a car (of Andy Cook) seen on Car Sos that came by. Edited May 5, 2021 by WIMPUS 2 1 Quote
WIMPUS Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Drivers door card was... well... rotten ! I had new ones from Park Lane (bought 2 years ago), but wanted to try and save the old ones. So replaced the wood and painted the wood with sonething we use for our shed 😄 4 Quote

byakk0 Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 (edited) Wow Wim. Lots of work. I think you've restored Fox twice in less time than I've been working on my first! Great work my friend. Edited June 11, 2021 by byakk0 awkward wording 1 Quote
WIMPUS Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 More work done.. Central locking wiring done better. Quote
WIMPUS Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 (edited) Bonnet has 23... yes 23 little dents! All marked as you can see. Fixed the ones on the wheelarches. Now to do the top once the weather is fine again. Edited June 21, 2021 by WIMPUS Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 18, 2021 Author Posted July 18, 2021 Oh well... on another note... We changed the engine on Fox the last 2 days 😅 With the help of my uncle his Linde forklift out of 1985 ! Also... more welding etc Needed to strip the whole suspension turret of the left side for it (never been off in 43years). Finally after all these years we got room to hammer the radiator support back (i got the car like this). Drove Fox home yesterday evening, timing etc needs better adjusting , exhaust manifold blowing a bit and oil leak from the rocker cover. This morning gave it a good tune up and fixed the leak etc. Now runs very well. 1 Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 More jobs done ! Shocks where getting rusty.. Rear ones (Spax). Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 (edited) Front ones (Koni's) + I had a helper... sadly sleeping on the job.. Edited July 22, 2021 by WIMPUS Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 Also got the windscreen out.. a job I was scared for because of rust I could see in the right bottom corner. But once I got the screen out the left bottom corner was rotten. So welded that up and 3 little spots of welding at the bottom edge. Quote
WIMPUS Posted July 22, 2021 Author Posted July 22, 2021 Then we put it all in primer and tried to fit the windscreen. Me and my uncle tried 2 times.. them we where to fed up. Day later we tried with 3 guys and after our 2nd try we got it ! It now sits much better then all these years of me driving it. Once home.. fitted the Club Triumph decal again 🙃 1 Quote
