Hi all
Im stripping down the chassis (GT6 mk3) wheels/rear suspension all off.

The long single bolt at the back of the diff is out and the two nuts that is suspends from is off, but it is not budging.

Ive tried levering it off, letting it hang under its own weight but no joy.

Any other bolts im missing? or thoughts?

thanks tim

good chance its rusted on the spigots.
there 2 bigggg washers there, they can rust onto the spigot / bolt.

failing that,  wak  suspect bits with a hammer and drift. that usually helps
BUTT not the rear  Luggs, as they can,and doo snap off :-/
once ye got the front off, the rear will come out with a little prying.

Ohhh, and it helps if ye  pulll a face, and grunt too, shows yer trying.  ;)

Hi
yes leaf spring is off, as is everything apart from the diff.

Been back down this evening, a lot of persuassion and some interesting language the front chassis member atttachments are free. The rerar bolt is out but it just rotates on this axis. It does move (like a hinge) but even after a lot of moving the bolt still slides back in, so obviously not budging at all.

planning on droping the chassis to the floor and pring a bit harder, wont have to try and support/hold it at the same time!!

any other thoughts?

thanks
Tim

ahhh haa, then wots up is that the bolt has been tightened too much,
thus indenting the rear housing, thus pushing the sides into the bit where the  bush is
thus actually nipping it in place.

Pry between outer housing {chassis } and diff luggs.

Ohh, pull a face too. ;)

Exactly
The two gussets squeeze up and nips the diff ,bush lugs
Just get a pry bar and lever the two gussets apart and the diff will drop out......generally on your foot, arm or other bodily parts

Oh yeah...... got a nasty injury like that earlier this year removing the diff from a Spit 1500 in a scrapyard.  Looks like I'll carry the scar for ever.  Still, it didn't actually break my arm, it just felt like it had for about 15 minutes.

So take care - it wants your blood!

Showing the scar whilst in a pub, you could say it was a war wound you got in a Spitfire.....drinks all round ;D

My guess - from experience - is that the spring is stuck on top of the diff. For some reason on my swing-spring MK1 the through-bolt coming down through the spring had seized into the hole on top of the diff. Squint along the tunnel from either side and see if you can get any kind of long pry-bar (I used a long screwdriver) into the gap between the diff and the spring. After some prising apart the diff will free up and drop onto whatever padding you've put under the car for that very purpose..
