TedTaylor
I did not dare confirm this before because I seemed to have problems which have kept postponing things. Quite a few people have been kind enough to ask this year how things have been coming onWell I am at last sitting in bed in hospital after having my knee replaced on Monday two months later than originally planned. No problems YET and they want me out on Thursday but knowing knowing my luck that could be Friday ..... or later!Once home I have to get mobile again and get my cars ready for the RBRR ...... in six months time ...... Sounds a reasonable time but the PI estate needs some titivating and the Mk1 saloon needs the bodywork finishing off and painted after Andy Dann did a major job to the metal work last year, and then I need to sort the engine out and give the running gear a thorough going over after 20 years of inactivity. And as I will have mobility problems for a while and cannot even drive the timing will be fun! Sounds quite normal for RBRR preparation! One person has offered to travel over here and give a weekend's help ....... somehow think I may be taking up their kind offer :)MUT

TedTaylor
Thanks for the good wishes however being MUT does create difficulty in the sensibility stakes..... (clown)Capo they did not allow me to bring any hammers into the hospital to I cannot do any decent repairs!MUT

Tim Bancroft
Ted,This is great news.A chap at work is just back from having both his knees replaced, he is like a newly born lamb now, springing around!! So we expect to see you leaping around!!Keep us posted on progress with the car, can't wait to see the vehicle!
Tim Hunt
Great news Ted, I trust the recovery is progressing well and you are indeed on the way home today or tomorrow as hoped. Sue's new knee made a big difference as you know. It's really nice that she can now get in and out of the TR even when the top is on and we can again enjoy the car together. We have two tours organised for next month and I reckon she will need little persuasion to do this year's Autoecosse in June. Keep up the exercises as recommended by your specialist/physio. Looking forward to seeing you and the car at the Plough come October 3rd. or maybe at Gaydon on Sunday 21st September at the Drivers' Meeting if you feel like giving the car a decent run.I am sure you will not lack for volunteers to give a hand on preparation under your expert eye and guidance.Kind regards,Tim

Yes Sue's good recovery is good news for myself and makes the point that I am nothing special. Brother Phil and I are determined that we will do the RBRR with the early Mk1 - puts the average age of drivers and car at about 63 years, and all (except the car) with past knee and other problems! Phil unfortunately lives in Maidstone now and cannot get over that much to help so will have to see how I can soldier on.MUT
Sheepy
Keep yer chin up ted! Take it easy until your fit to run about. ;)My dog will know the feeling tonight, as he goes for his knee op today! (not a replacement) but he dislocated his knee and torn the ligament inside! Hope to meet you on the RBRR.You know when your a petrol head when the missus brings you in a bag of spanners and workshop manuals instead of grapes and crossword books!Go carefull.Cheers
TedTaylor
Oh bu**ar.Just had a check up because of a problem with the leg below the 'new' knee (which was progressing) and it has been confirmed that I have a DVT.I must, as Colin Radford says, now start to be 'Sensible Uncle Ted' for a while and really take things quietly for a quite a few weeks with minimal moving around until the problem clears - which is going to put pressure on the time scale for the getting the Mk1 saloon body finished off and the car ready for the RBRR :(Temporarily SUT
Jason
I thought SUT was Stationary Uncle Ted, hope you recover to be Mobile Uncle Ted again :-)
TedTaylor
Thanks Jason :PWell clips (stiches) are out and you can see the full glory of the 12 inch scar, problems caused by a couple of previous knee operations from 30 years ago! Do I dare post a photo ??)!Go in tomorrow for an assessment on the DVT but doubt there will be any good news because nothing has changed. So frustrating with all this lovely weather and bored to **** with being able to do so little actively on the cars for the RBRR because I must not stay on my feet for too long.SUT/MUT
Don Cook
I've sent Ted a PM but a DVT is quite serious and in my case I spent nearly a month in hospital. So, fingers crossed his DVT will be minimal.
TedTaylor
I'm a very happy man :)Took the Mk2 estate out today for a good drive after all the dramas of the knee op and the DVT which I managed to 'nurse' myself through and ended up not as much of a problem as feared. I was given clearance by the Specialist to try driving a week or so ago provided I did just short 2 mile maximum drives which I did in Steph's Subaru Forester.Today went out for a 30 mile drive in WooDiE and got back home with my knee a little sore and stiff ...... but with a big smile on my face! Now I can get on with steadily increasing the miles until I am driving normally again.MUT
