thescrapman
Has anyone applied for one yet?http://blog.eurocamp.co.uk/travel/frances-new-car-pollution-stickers-know-before-you-go/
mpbarrett
Easy to do online (covers all towns in France introducing pollution control). here http://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr You will need to scan your reg documents and then reduce it to less than 400k (thus making it unreadable...) and attach it to your application. The sticker was taking about 3 weeks to arrive but they usually send an email with a temporary sticker that you can use.Did this for our camper van earlier this year as we were planning to drive thru France.Mike
Nick Jones
No..... I was oblivious, so thanks for posting. Not planning to venture into Lille itself anyway. Not that I've managed to find where the boundary is yet....Nick
Howard
The following article appears to be the applicable rules for Lille in English. There appear to be two type of Zone - ZCR where a sticker is mandatory at all times & ZPA where it is only required when the pollution controls are in force - the challenge is that we do not know if the ZPA controls will be in force in Lille in advance. The area covers the major highways around Lille so you don't need to enter the city to be effected.Rules covering Lille:-https://www.crit-air.fr/en/inf...../lille-zone-zpa.htmlGeneral rules and link to phone app to check current status:-https://www.crit-air.fr/en/inf.....al-zones.html#c29520Large scale map of CritAir zones in Lille:-https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/de/map/frankreichlillezpa_146987#12/50.6379/3.0793Insofar as I can work out, vehicle built before 1996 are not eligible for any CritAir sticker and so cannot enter whenever a ZPA pollution incident is in force in Lille. This includes the major roads around the city. The notices about the zone appear to be in the French media only, but there is a new smart phone app which allows checking of the state for each area. https://www.green-zones.eu/en/green-zones-app/info-green-zones-app.htmlI also read on another site http://www.moteurnature.com/28956-critair-a-grenoble-lille-lyon-et-paris-elle-est-obligatoire that the rules are only applicable from Monday to Friday, from 8 to 20 hours so we may have to postpone our arrival in Lille and/or depart earlier than expected. I bet it is in force later on Wednesday after 85 Triumphs have driven through 😀 😀Looking at the map in detail, the start (in Englos) is NOT inside the ZCR/ZPA zone and detours around the zone are easy to navigate. JohnD
It's only for four cities - that may grow with time - but who wants to drive through a city, especially when you have the whole of La Belle France to drive through? In the UK, geography forces us to drive through cities - try getting to the Northwest without going through Manchester/Liverpool - because we are a long, thn country with, up here, a mountainous spine, In contrast, France is a wide circle with mountains around the edges, with roads and Mways in all directions. If you have a city before you, even one with a ring road, get off the Mway! Drive through countryside the equal of any in the UK, with less traffic! It's so easy to do with a satnav, and maybe a map to give you alternaive destinatuions to aim for.En bas des villes! Nick Jones
Wow, thanks for the update, especially Howard and Ellis. Our hotel is just outside the zone. The start, a few hundred metres away, just inside......But what a dogs dinner the whole thing seems to be, especially with random parts of the motorway included. Daftness? Or low cunning aimed at screwing some fines revenue out of motorists to just wanted to go past Lille......I do hope this fairly pointless foolishness isn't going to spread to quickly.... richard w
Thanks Ellis. Our hotel for Tuesday night is in the inner (ZCR) zone, but as we're booked on the 4pm ferry we probably won't be in the zone before 8pm and will be out of it before 8am Wednesday. From what I understand, as long as there isn't an air pollution alarm in the ZPA before we leave it we should all be ok. 😲Looking at the German zones, we pass very close to 3 of them as far as I can tell - Karlsruhe, Eschweiler and Aachen - but it looks as though we're ok if we stay on the route which follows the main roads bypassing the towns. Nick B.
HiI am staying at the Hôtel Première Classe Lille Lomme. They told me that they were placed just out of the highway, still within the zone, where the stickers must be present on days of pollution, though controls were infrequent ...CheersNick
Tim Hunt
Actually Andy the Boulanger car park start is clearly just in the controlled zone but academic since we should be clear of it before 08.00 anyway. We are staying at the Premiere Classe also and will be arriving well before 20.00 if the 12.00 sailing is on time. If the zone is in force and I am challenged I will produce my V5C, point out the Voiture de Collection taxation class and rely on my French to get me through. Beans
Oldtimers (cars older than 30) with a historic licence are exempt from the German Environmental zones.
