Well the Spifire made it back OK....but Id heard a couple of knocks from rear nearside on the way back from Germany
Then after only 10 miles,the other day coming from 4 wheel aligning, I heard loud knocking.
We were lucky to get back from the run(albeit I had the spares and ability to do it roadside) removed Nearside UJ, two cups/brgs at 180 degs not looking good and the two  at 180.degs .....one shaft had a flat on it and only half the needle brgs and the the other cup had no bearings in at all ??)
Now all done inc trunnion refurb and ready for Bovingdon....... :X

thats interesting! I mounted mine at the front on the outside of the engine valance (in the cold air) shame it started playing up before the run which is why I went back to the mechanical one! Do you have an air box on the carbs?
Anyay here is a picture of Libby demostrating the fuel pump  Water cooling system on available on the later Mk3 GT6's...

With the pump she was able to pump water along the orange pipe onto the top of the fuel pump.!!

No just a very large heat shield between carbs and filters.  Did you fit a plastic filter before the micro filter that screws into the electric fuel pump??  I didn't when I fitted mine and I thought I was getting fuel vaporisation when it was just a blocked micro filter.  I killed one pump with it running dry because the micro filter doesn't take much to get blocked.

You did have a look over mine while we were waiting for the ferry in France.

You probably emailed the place at the end of my road - and about five miles from Ashley. Want me to collect them to arrange their delivery in a Mini?  ;D

Over the past few weeks I at last found some inspiration to start on the repairs of the damage the DHC received during the 10CR, but immediately encountered a few setbacks.
On closer inspection the damage to the car turned out to be more extensive;
• The RH door also is lightly damaged by the impact from the small rock.
  The rear of the door hit the B-pillar resulting in some cracked paint, which needs repairs;
• The front spoiler which we first thought was repairable turned out to be beyond repair;
• Paint in the seam behind the RH door is severely cracked too;
This means that two/thirds of the outside of the car needs a re-spray, so I decided it will be better to re-spray the whole car.

And when I brought the car to the paint shop recently we found out that the transmission failure is almost certainly caused by the gearbox.
While pushing the car from the trailer with th egearbox in neutral, there was definitely a grinding noise from that area,
and as the clutch wasn’t moving, it could only originate from the ‘box. Very curious now what exactly failed in the ‘box.

And since a few weeks I have all the parts to rebuild the gearbox. Hopefully I’ll soon have enough time to start assembling the new ‘box.
But I am still waiting for a new clutch kit to arrive, I ordered it 4 months ago ...

Might even buy you a beer or two, three ... ;)

Working on the damage valuation at the moment, somewhere between €1000,-- and €2000,-- by the looks of it  :-/

That is more than most TR7's are sold for in the UK, so here it would be classified as an insurance write off!
