However, it looks like the photos have changed since I originally saw the car advertised

Advert states will come fitted with New Moto Lita Sports Wood Steering wheel so possibly new photos added for this reason

This particular dealer seems to list a lot really nice top dollar small chassis Triumphs, have a look at the home page and you can see a selection of what they have had for sale previously?

How about a couple of early fully restored Mk2 Spitfires for £17K and £19.5K, dunno if they get near the asking price or not though.

Make no doubt about it prices of all Classic have gone up due in no small part to all the Classic Car shows over the past few years, I reckon?

1. The Love of Cars 2. The Classic Car show. 3. Car S.O.S. 4. Wheeler Dealers, Etc have all raised the Profile and prices of Classics  :-/

It's good in some ways because you can justify spending more on restoration work with the realistic hope of getting some of it back.

I always used to wish I had a cv instead of a saloon - but over the years the saloons have grown on me more and more. I agree with Gary - it certainly helps to justify spending when you see the prices increasing, but have to say £13k does seem very steep.

I have seen some lovely saloons go for £5k and £5.5k recently and I think that figure is probably a bit of a barrier.

Prices are certainly a subject for debate recently; I’ve seen a lot of dealer-sold cars going for big money… yet none to Club members. It’s easier to sell a car at a high price to someone with the available cash but not the knowledge of the true worth. Club adverts or magazine adverts (we’re not talking about Classic and Sportscar here, where you’ll see cars for sale that once had the sauce from Stirling Moss’ Cheeseburger drip across the bonnet and so this makes them hugely more desirable… apparently) usually reflect the true price. Ask yourself: would YOU pay £13000 for a Vitesse? Of course not, you can get just as good a car much more cheaply from a private sale without paying dealer overheads. As Dave says, £5k will still buy a lovely example.
Be careful what you wish for. I’ve seen a few posts recently where owners seem to hope their cars are worth big money; however the more expensive the car, the higher the Insurance costs will be, and more people will be put off buying them.

Seats with flip from early Toledo 2 door?

They do look like Toledo seats. Not sure how they're fitted, though - the Toledo seats in Tessa are swapped, so that those release buttons are on the inside, to properly clear the tunnel.

And yes, I also think that's a lot of money for anything other than a perfect, concours-winning car.

Some additional photos added with the new wheels fitted - I think I preferred it with the original wheels

Still showing as for sale at £14,000

Does it look like there are some imperfections on the front wing or is it just the photo???

I looked at this dealers site recently as he had a 13/60 Convertible for sale at £14,995.00 which to be honest I thought was an unbelievable price but he appears to have sold it.

I have my car insured for an agreed £8000.00 which I thought was a realistic value perhaps I need to up my valuation in light of what this dealer seems to be getting for small chassis Triumphs. (Photo of my car attached).

I reckon you ought to raise the value of your Agreed Value insurance Alan it looks a cracker!

I've been out looking at a TR250 and a TR5 yesterday and there values have shot up, similar to certain other classics Sporty Mk1 Ford Escorts and early Mini's to give two examples so why shouldn't the Herald & Vitesse rise in value too?

Surely the Agreed Value insurance should be enough to cover the cost of getting one in similar condition should the worst happen I reckon you would need to spend far more than £8K on a poor Herald to bring it up to that standard?

My Herald cost well over £12000 to have professionally restored and that was 10 years ago.  The car has lasted better in the last 10 years than it did in the first 10 years thanks to modern paint and materials and rustproofing techniques.  Bearing in mind that it has been cosseted all of its life.  To re-restore the car now I guess would be well in excess of £20k.

....I was browsing this week's 'Classic Car Weekly', today at the supermarket & in the auction section the author mentioned a low mileage Mk.II Escort..(I think the 'Popular')..4-door that as he put it, went for the 'baffling' sum of £15,750 ..(I think it was - certainly over 15k!) Apparently it had an 'unloved' engine bay! Puts it all in perspective really................The same paper featured the Mk.1 Twin-cam Escort & gave a concours valuation of £80k........
Makes that car seem good value....
