  1. And a towbar and trailer to carry everything. šŸ¤¬ Makes you wonder if your journey is worthwhile if you have to take sooo much. Sorry if I appear a bit negative. Tony.

    1500 SU carbs

Just a fibre washer, from memory. Tony.
  3. The bus's twin lights are as follows. The ones with 3 terminals are low beam, high beam and earth. the ones with 2 terminals are high beam and earth only. So the 2 with 3  terminals are like your normal car lights. When switched to high beam the other two also light up giving you 4 headlights, the same as my Triumph  2500. I know as I work on buses every day. Just put 12volt lamps in and all will be well.šŸ¤“ Tony.
  4. The bulbs won't be any use to you. Leyland and indeed most bus bulbs will be 24 volt. you obviously will need 12 volt ones. Tony.

Graham, Are you sure that the bolt that holds the float chamber to the body is not loose.? Tony.
  6. Quite normal for a Spitfire. Suggest that you get hold of a book for the car. Tony.
  7. I still think that you need to get the crankshaft bearing journals accurately measured so you discount  the bearing problems. Tony.
  8. You make no mention of having measured the bearing diameters. This is necessary as you can't tell the condition by just looking. You'll need access to a micrometer to do this.  Tony.
  9. My bet would be worn clevises and linkages. It doesn't take much wear in these bits to cause problems. I don't think you should need to attack the slave and move it foreward for it to work properly. Are you sure there is no air in the system? They can be difficult to  bleed sometimes. I've used a syringe to actually suck the fluid out from the bleed nipple on the slave before today. As for the black bits, there should be no sign of fluid on the outside. If there is you must have a leak, hence air getting in. Probably el cheapo repro parts not fit for the job. Sorry if the above upsets you. šŸ˜  Tony.
  10. Are you allowed to run GPS speedo's in the UK ? Tony.
  11. My Mk4 Spitfire looked great on MGF wheels. Just had to change wheel studs.to suit. Pity I can't post pics. Tony.
  12. Best take it out and suspend it in hot water and see what it does. Tony.
  13. What's wrong with yours that can't be fixed ? Tony.
  14. Over in New Zealand we have people who can make up cables with any end that you want for a reasonable price. I had a cable made up for my 2500, a bit longer than standard to get rid of the tight radius's. Surely someone in UK can make you a cable. Tony.
  15. Sorry for the misinformation. Being a 2500  person didn't realise about the SU''s. Tony.
  16. Whatever you do don't leave it too long or you will stuff your bearings and generally cause wear to your motor. I second Glang, fuel pump is a good place to start looking.😲 Tony.

    Chrome

Of course you could go the other way and look at stainless steel one's . No idea how they compare price wise though. With all the dodgy bits for sale today it may be a better option. Tony.
  18. Sorry mate, no one seems to want to answer. I think originally black but hey, it's your car, paint it whatever you think looks good to you. 😆 Tony.
  19. The actual fittings. To be fair though they're doing a harder job than they would on a car. If you're near a BMW dealer have a look at their fittings for convertible tops. Tony.
  20. They're a bit fragile, we use them at work on school bus signs. They don't last too long. Tony.
  21. Just a heads up....recently got some plastic one's of the above. Only problem is that they are 150 thou too thin. Have let the supplier know so we'll see what happens. I've turned up some spacers for the time being. I ran out of thread trying to tighten them. Will report on the outcome. Tony.
  22. Ok, been under the car for you. As car was built in 1976 its dimensions are imperial. Since I was made in 1940, so are mine. Length of spacer tube for J type=one and a half inches. Length of my bolts are two and three quarters long. Bolts are not original as my originals had rusty plates. I replaced mine by welding bolts on to a bit of 1" x 1/8" flat. Hope this helps Tony.
  23. No, they're quite a bit longer. When I get into the shed I'll measure mine, if someone doesn't beat me to it.  Tony.

    Mk3 GT6 Coil

No, our cars have a water pump. Thermo syphon is an old system which uses the principle of hot water rising and displacing the cold. (or something like that) 😆 Tony.
