  1. advice please I have just had my n/s trunnion fail on my mot, it's only done 400 miles and has been oiled regularly , I have read on here that they can fail if the caster is way out, so after a lot of searching on here and other sites, I checked that from the centre line through the top ball joint centre of the stub axle and middle of the trunnion, this was WAY out to get all three in line I have had to shim out the front bottom fixing Five shims  with none in the rear, can this be right it looks wrong. I am trying to get it as close as possible before it is taken into Micheldever Tyres for a laser set up, I think i have about 2 deg neg camber on the front
  2. Just read a load of threads on TSSC I think I just might convert to manual but I did find these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-TRIUMPH-H-CLIP-FOR-THE-REAR-BRAKES-ON-TRIUMPH-1500-RWD-STAINLESS-STEEL/123507472511   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-GT6-Hand-Brake-Girling-Brake-Adjuster-Arms/181966271048 HOW DID I MISS THIS https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-519760      at £2.70 inc
  3. Hi guys, I am having troubles sorting out my rear brakes They are the self adjusting type, I just can't get it right, I've now sused it, I think, I am both of the 'H' Parts missing, Rimmer's & Canleys Both say NO Longer Available and every thread i've read say's that without them the auto adjust won't work SO guy's has any body got their brakes apart and can measure thier's for me and post a photo to show how they are fitted, I could also do with the adjusting arms, can any body throw any light on these, I think Ive read some where that dolly ones fit, I can't find these either, Thanks
  4. Crack a cold beer open, sit in the drivers seat and close your eyes for 5 mins gently supping the beer,  and all your worries start to ease away
  5. As Pete says  may be a old rubber hose braking down with our ethanol fuel, I think I read on here a while ago that a guy was having problems and finally traced it to a small rubber piece of fuel line that after a while of running the car started to misbehave,
  6. I still keep popping back to check, we will all miss Kieth's relentless work though
  7. Oliver when the first coil went down, it was very very hot to touch, when I took the car to him for the rolling road set up, he is about a 20 - 30 minute drive from my house, as I approached his place there is a slight incline and I noticed a couple of misses from the engine, which i disregarded as the carbs weren't set up, that could have been the coil starting to go south
  8. I had same problem on my GT6 1973, the car had a new coil  (Lucas) from Rimmer's in the rebuild, that lasted 200 miles, then a new coil (Lucas again) which I thought was ok, Put the car in for a rolling road set up Carbs, Timing, to get the webers set up correct, and the guy said I ve fitted a new coil yours was breaking down under load when hot, I said it's only done 75 miles, Now I have a Bosch coil, I told him the coils history, and he said it's the six cylinder engine the way it runs shaking the internals , so the coil is now mounted with a couple of old mini exhaust cotton reels to stop the vibrations, and as the engine is still new 300 miles he only ran it to 3k for the set up, with 150 bhp , he said do another 300 and bring it back for a check up  he comes very well recommended http://www.aireytuning.com/#home
  9. winch it up onto the ramps then place a 4x2 timber under the rear of the ramps and with said trolly jack raise the rear a few inches then finish winching the car on, you only need to go high enough for the sills to clear the trailer, you might need to ratchet strap the timber in place
  10. any engineering shop can do it, or buy your self a set of stamps off ebay  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/36-pc-Number-Letter-Punch-Set-Stamp-Kit-for-Stamping-Numbers-Stamp-Metal/382276954199?epid=14011034128&hash=item59017b6857:g:fTMAAOSwaG1bwGkJ £12 bargain
  11. Bruce may be not a fuse, but a bad earth connection
  12. if the Temp and Fuel gauges are playing up you may need a new Voltage Stabiliser https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Electronic-instrument-voltage-stabiliser-10-volt-for-classic-cars-as-BR13xx/282642726457 and it's only a 15 min job yours should be fixed to the back of the speedo  it's easy to check you will have 12 volts 'coming in' and 10 volts 'going out' you will need to disconnect this wire for a true reading if you have a third wire I think it's a BLACK just an earth
