    MK1 Vitesse

Sorry Clive lack of information on my part, the Vitesse is getting a 2.5 engine grafted in, this is the manifold that came with the engine

    MK1 Vitesse

Hi I am looking for any advice on the SU carbs I have a pair of AUD 9  (which I hope to fit onto my Vitesse Mk1)   Little tab number FZX 1263F                                                              I believe I need to fit Dolomite Sprint dash pots to clear the bonnet, Can any body through some light on this matter please, my dash pots are 100mm high
  4. As an owner of a 1973 Mk3 GT6, MOT exempt, I still have it tested every year for my peace of mind, also IF i did have a accident there is no way anybody can say it's an old car and not fit for the road, I think our cars are better looked after than most
  5. when I did the GT6 Mk3 I fitted a new swing spring from Moss part number 17409 1" lowered, on the Front I have Rimmer's part number GSA366SPAX (shocks)                    and Rimmer's part Number 212425UR 2" lowered 262 lbs Springs  15" x 5.5 Minilites with 185/55/R15 Goodyears, mine had the same stance, I  then put the car up on ramps and placed 4 bags of cement in the boot and one each side where the front seats go, the hard part was placing 8'x2' timber on the ramps for the car to be rolled to and fro, to settle the suspension, then tightened all suspension fixings, I had to roll the rear arch inner edge for  the tyres to clear the body I am now happy with it
  6. Go to https://coh-baines.co.uk/product-category/classic-car/triumph/ these are better seals
  7. sub sections I don't use them, I always click on the "Spitfire" or "GT6", maybe we could have the sub bits then, Click on the GT6 then "engine", "Bodywork", This would cover all GT6 Models. And full page please. I do like our new 'post list' for all new post, I quite often read about other models who appear to have problems with nothing to do with the car that i have, If the forum is updated will we get all the old posts / threads back ? I have lost 4 years of the restoration on my car, that is a lot of lost information for others to use, and learn from my mistakes and skinned knuckles. I do like the TSSC forum What I like now is the fact that we are all talking about how our forum should work, and I think we are being listened too,
  8. try these https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-1200-solex-carburettor-b30pse1-early   https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-1200-solex-carburettor-b30pse1-early
  9. It will be a shame that Keith is leaving he has done a superb job in difficult times. As I said in a post last week can we please have a rotate tool in the drop down "Tools" menu box, We could look at the "TSSC " site on how they let us add photo's to threads with just a "drag photo's" into the box, Sorry i am not a web master like Keith so I've no idea how this works, I just know it's so easy a mupet like me can do it.
  10. I had to bin my new seals and repurchase some more as the first set of seals were to big, for the second set i went to https://coh-baines.co.uk/product-category/classic-car/triumph/spitfire-triumph/ fitted first time and i used Bains for my windscreen seal

  12. Ive gone for 185/55/R15.82V Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance, on my GT6 no troubles so far they have been on since June 2015 at a cost of £272 for all four, £68 each fitted and balanced. I think a bargain at that price
  13. As Michael I used H&H, Gave them my old dizzy (Mk3 GT6) and they rebuilt and converted it to electronic, no points or condenser, to worry about, They did a first class job, And looking from the outside you would never know http://www.h-h-ignitionsolutions.co.uk/#
  14. you could try taking the plugs out giving each cylinder a small squirt of petrol, pop the plugs back in and try to start it, you should get at least a few revs

  16. Hi I used 18mm marine ply then gave the bottom side a couple of coats of marine varnish, then used a vinyl covering, and stiched a leather edge to the vinyl glued the the vinyl in place wrapped the leather around the edge and stapled to the bottom. I think this will give years of service and looks great
  17. WOW Ive posted a photo the first since our up grade, Thanks to all who have made it possible !  well done Keith and co, and it was so very easy
  18. When the body is on fit the wiper mechanism first then the heater box, Then loom !! it save's a lot of cussing and skinned knuckles, and  before bolting the body to the chassis sort the hand brake out

  20. The steering arm is bent about 3mm, new part on order, it's going to be a long week and i bet the sun comes out now the car is off the road
  21. Help again please, I've fitted the new coil, and was just looking things over and noticed that the N/S Track Rod Rubber gaiter is rubbing on the disc, the O/S has a couple of mm clearance, I've removed both Steering arms, and they have a number cast in, L03740WFD1M and L03638MFD1L, does any body know which is one is the o/s or n/s. The numbers dont correspond to Canleys web page with also shows the ball joints with the nut on the bottom if I swop them over the nuts will be on the top https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-gt6-mkiii-rack-and-pinion-assembly https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-gt6-mkiii-upper-wishbone-vertical-link-hub it's part number 205504 and 205505 i'm stuck on, thanks
  22. Thanks guys, why dont Rimmer's and Evans, explain so simply, i'm off to the garage to play while the boss is shopping
  23. New coil fitted engine runs fine, just spotted the rad cap is  rated at 7Lbs a new 13Lbs is now ordered, This could be the reason my overflow bottle dumped some on the road. will this make much difference running with Evans Waterless Coolant. Are our engines  thermo-syphon cooling system, or what does this mean. then I see at the bottom of Rimmer's Evans Waterless page this little comment  ' Not suitable for engines with a thermo-syphon cooling system.'
