  1. You know, you guys are right. May as well pull the spring, It's a misery anyway.  :-/
  2. Wimpus. Oh dear. That bolt through the retaining plate should be there, and is very difficult to get at with the spring bolted in. If you take the four nuts off the studs then jack up both sides of the rear suspension you may be able to leave the spring on the studs and still be able to get at it through the inspection panel. Maybe. Be careful of lifting the car on the spring under the bodywork..... We've all been there!
  3. Pete - a pleasure to be able to add something. Blacky - Newton Commercial did them (the Spitfire seats) for me. Not cheap, but very nicely done indeed, I'm really chuffed with them. The MX5 ones, a bloke near Newcastle whose name I now don't remember. I'll look it up for you if you wish. Tarka didn't do the photos, I'm rubbish at taking them all by myself!  :)

  5. Now I can post something definitive. Well, in my opinion, based on my experience of just this particular type of seat! I got my re-trimmed Spitfire seats back today - very nicely done too I reckon - and I'm hoiking out the MX5 seats to swap back...... Here are a few comparison shots, and a sort of before and after. (Spitfire seats not bolted in yet. Will be in a minute). Bearing in mind my car has that girly roll-bar in, and the seats would be fine(r) if it didn't - I'm sure - the difference is quite marked - for me anyway. At a properly full grown 6ft tall, it's the difference between feeling a bit hunched, having difficulty getting in and out, and having my left knee no longer hitting the H-frame. Oh! And feeling "in" the car again, instead of somehow "on" it. Simples! Any info you want please ask, or any shots or whatnot which I've not covered here, I'll get 'em. The trouble is, really, you have to sit in the things to tell the difference. Looking at them you'd think it's not a lot, but it is. Really really.

  7. Good luck getting them in Gaz! What's a "Toyota MR2 Mk 1 Limousine?" He's taking the p*ss, surely.
  8. Bill's ever so smart. BTW I've got stainless trim too. Blimey is that stuff expensive - and increasingly difficult to get hold of - unless someone knows different. I had it fitted by Chris from Autoglass when he came to fix the company modern. Few quid in the back pocket and Fanny's your Aunt.

  11. A good thread on this here: http://club.triumph.org.uk/cgi-bin/forum10/Blah.pl/Blah.pl?m-1325345780/s-0/ With a fair bit of whining from me. There ARE a variety of MX5 seats, and some (seperate headrest ones) work better than others. There are also other alternatives. I'm swapping my MX5 seats back to normal Spitfire 1500 ones this week. A pity, since the MX5 ones looked splendid - but they're just too big and worse with the roll bar in.  :-/
  12. I would think not as well as steel ones, but whatdoino.  :-/
  13. It's not the only justification, but they're quieter, supposedly. Stop those noisy intrusive tappets annoying you. (Cuts it down to just the timing chain).
  14. Nice one Barry. I changed mine from black plastic to wood and then back. I see a photo like this one and I think, hmmm..... Oh well! BTW fellow readers, it's a jpg file I think, so Windows Media Viewer thingy gets it open just fine. Barry's changed the file name extension to mess us all up, but we see through his little plan.  8)

    GT6 Sump removal.

esxefi wrote:tssc are in the process of getting the sealing block made in steel, don't know if they are ready yet but may well be worth getting one if you are taking the sump off anyway.fit and forget. :) Pretty sure this is also available elsewhere - I must go have a look. Stoopid bit of design, wasn't it? Spider - you're going to lay a trail of oil right up Prescott Hill? Right-o, I'll be going ahead of you then.  :)
  16. Smaaaart John. It's touches like the rad and that radio plate that set it off, too. Nice!  :) :)
  17. Yum yum! Good colour, the right Revos with the right number of spokes, a lovely finish and US side-markers, as fitted to all the best cars. I think I'll have to save those photos to my collection. 🙂
  18. John, I get the impression that when something annoys you, you don't rest until it's been addressed! Right oh then, are you going to offer a retro-fit option for the rest of us? I'd pay you a couple of quid alright, if you want to pop round.   :) If you bring your tool for automatically replacing rear trunnions with you too, I'd be obliged.  ;)
  19. Shaun - fabulous work and a fabulous shot of that "Empire" Cyberman. A set of silver overalls and you're sorted. :) :) I'm a bit scared.  ??)
  20. Bravo John - damnit, I should have gone to see it when I had the chance! Still, later in the year, when you're out and about.  :)
  21. The words LEFT DRIVE refer to the side of the road you drive on with it fitted - so don't drive on the wrong side of the road or that headlight will go out. I'm off to photograph my car in the dark since Léon's looks so darn good. Is there a light on in the interior Léon?
  22. Nick_Jones wrote:Looks superb! You could get some brushing synthetic mixed to match the colour easy enough and invest a couple of hours with a brush on the floors - would finish it off nicely  :) Nick Good idea. John, I like it, honest!  :P
  23. Ah, the Austrians I was mixing with were obviously heavy drinkers mate. 😉
  24. Beans, I've only just noticed you've "nur Limonade" with a GB on the plate. Nice! Thanks for the great blog and great photos, I'm now pining for the Tirol....
