Rich_s
When i first got mine i had the same problem, turned the key anti clockwise as far as it would go but would not come out, until i found out you have to turn anti clockwise until stops, then push it in and continue turning anti clockwise until stops, then it would pull out, not as easy as this is it?Rich

Elbow
Lock underneath collum by shins!
thescrapman
They do have a habit of jamming.Lots of gentle wiggling may free it up, moving wheel side to side if it is stuck with the sterring lock engaged. You can get the shear bolts out my sawing a slot in the top of them, or knocking them loose with a dot punch or similar.Swictch comes off the back of the lock, so you can remove the lock and then just use a screwdriver in the switch as a short term fix.I may be able to assist with a new lock if you get stuck.CheersColin

Alex
I believe the lower barrels are available new from canleys( they were about 4 yrs ago) however the other type are not.Obviously supply may have dried up.....
roddymacp
Obviously I am not the only one to be unable to get the key out when I first got the car (until I pushed it in and turned it a bit more) :B
DaveKent
oh dear! best advice then is to keep driving it, so no-one can steal it!!! and you'll be having fun too!!!lock is normallly held on by two shear bolts i believe.Phone Dave Pearson at Canley Classics, he'll help you. Elbow
Ive managed to get the key out by pushing it in then turning a bit more, still had to tap it out with a pair of mole grips attached tho. Will get another key cut and see if its any better, but I would think that something is warn in the barrel so may need to replace it at some point. Nick B.
Instead of having a key cut you should buy a new key. Canley has (had?) a good supply of NOS keys. If you just get the number of the old key. Would work better than a copy of a worn key.CheersNick
Steve Cureton
I suspcet the tumblers have siezed so try spraying WD40 or 3in1 oil in the lock first and work teh key in & out. I'll be surprised if that doesn't free it off.
Elbow
Ok many thanks I have sprayed in the lock and I can get the key in and out but its not easy, maybe it will get better. But I will order a new key aswel. Thanks for your help!CheersRich
Steve Cureton
Unless your existing key is damaged then changing it won't solve anything, it's more likely to be the lock that's faulty.
Docman
Use "Lock-Ease". It has graphite so it won't volatilize off and leave nothing remaining.http://www.amazon.com/Lock-Ease-Graphite-Lock-Fluid-3-4/dp/B0006MWPZA
