I would guess so.

The regs should probably now say "produce a current MOT if the vehicle requires one." or similar.

I reckon on about another 15no about to get their entry in.

Come on, 30no total, surely we can do better than that. This event is the only Autosolo run in the UK specifically for old cars, so come on have a go.

I'm tempted to have a go again, it's either that or go to a beer festival on the Friday evening, I don't think trying to do both would be a good idea!
Anyone know what the relevant car requirements of the MSA regulations are?

I thought that was an MOT requirement

depend where you get your car moted...
and dunno about the CT one but normally cable ties not allowed

I have done 3 CT and a CSMA event, and this years MOt with the battery clamp held down with Cable Ties.

I do also have cable ties over the top of the battery, and they are big meaty ones.

that's Ok ..when i was briefed to be scrutineer for events run by MSA approved clubs i was told catagorically the batteries held down with cable ties were NOT to be passed..but not all the batteries on my cars are clamped in any shape or form for their MOTs

Colin, buy a clamp matey, under shock I reckon cable ties would snap.

We have now received 25no entries.

Would like to see a minimum of 30no starters.

We have 3 other types taking part: AH Sprite, Mini and a BMW 2002Tii.

I have the cable ties as the size of the battery dictates that the bolts would foul the bonnet. legacy of an emergency battery purchase on the 10CR in 2007

The cable ties would hold my weight I reckon. big fat things with spring steel catches.

It is not ideal, but in defence all my other cars have proper steel clamps, so are MOT safe.. :-)

Why not use a strip of steel across the middle of the battery?

We now have 26no entries and I have been told by 15no. various people that they wish to enter, so as we are limited to 40no, get your skates on!!

Umm, reckon we may just get 40no entries.

If so, we may try to do two groupings instead of 3no. May speed things up so that we can offer 4 tests.
