Just back from a week's holiday and there were 2 entries waiting on the doormat, plus another hand delivered just before we left last week.  So, we now have 11 entries:

Michael Helm/Colin Wake - Expert - Triumph Yes
Peter Jackson/Mark Rutter - Expert - Triumph 2000
Steven Radley/Dave Saunders - Novice -Triumph Mk1  2.5PI
Jonathan Fallowell/Alex Joslin - Beginner - Triumph 2000
Alan Pettit/TBA - TBA - Triumph Spitfire 4
Dale Barker/Nigel Abdullah - Expert - Triumph Herald
David Aspinall/Louise Crow - Novice - Triumph 2.5PI
Charlie Deards/Ellis Stokes - Expert - Triumph 2500S Estate
Andy Dann/Wendy Dann - Beginner - Triumph Definitely 2000
Mike Bishop/Darren Armitage - Expert - Triumph Stag
Clive Senior/Gill Senior - Novice - Triumph Spitfire

So, there is just the one place left now, to make a full 12 Car entry.  Also, history dictates that there will be at least one entrant drop out before the event, so please still do send in an entry if the list is full as you are quite likely to get a place at the last moment.

I know the list is full now, but can I put an entry in?  I've been struggling to get a co-driver, but should have one now, and it would be nice to do an event in the 2000.

Richard

Yes Richard, absolutely.  Whilst not wishing bad luck on any entrant, I think I'm right in saying that no CT 12 car event in the last few years has not had somebody drop out at the last minute.

PM sent.

A couple of clarifications that have been prompted by a question or two...

The Beginner class is not a fully competitive class. You will get a fully marked map of the route, showing the route you must drive and that the Novice and Expert crews have had to plot themselves.  This means you do not need to do any plotting yourself; you just follow the route as marked on the map you have been given. You will also be given the Novice navigation clue sheets, but this is just so you can see for yourselves how the navigation clues relate to the plotting of the route; you do not need to use them.

You will also be given a sheet of questions that you answer as you drive round by looking out for things on the road.  You will not need to stop and get out of the car to do this.  You can also note down the code boards on the side of the road if you wish; these are placed there for the Novice and Expert crews to note down so that it can be proved that they have driven the correct route. All this is for your own enjoyment and interest only, although there will probably be a prize for the Beginner crew with the best score.

You will get start and finish points allocated for use in the Club championships/challenge but no other points.  The Beginner class is designed for those just wanting a run out in company with other Triumphs, and those newcomers who have not done a navigation rally before and want to see what it's all about. It is a non-competitive class.

In light of this, if you wish to change up to a more competitive class, let me know and I'll move you into the Novice class.

Seeding - some of you have asked what this is and is it an "Essex" thing?  Some remote parts of Essex are quite rural and people there live a simple life.  Seeding is quite painless; only takes a minute or two, and you do get a sugar-beet top to chew on whilst it happens.

Also, cars will be sent off from the start in a set order which slightly helps the less experienced crews.

Cheers,
Mike

Sign up as a Novice, have a go, and if it all goes Pete Tong, open the panic envelope.

Have a really good read of the navigational guides beforehand, and you really can't go wrong. Well actually you can, but you know what I mean.

If you want to see some examples of previous events, we can email you clues and marked maps.

Cheers

Colin

I've clearly left it too late to enter (August is busy and when I've been here Iris has been away). Oh well, next time, maybe.

Rob - It may be worth putting an entry in because, as said above, there is a likelihood of one or two crews dropping out before the start.  PM sent.
