(altho this one seems very sound at the mo) I'm in Elstead in Surrey :) I looked at EFI online it looked a lot more complex than an engine swap? If I can fit EFI anyone can!!!! It's easy once you get your head around it

  4. Skim front discs, fix speedo, adjust clutch slave cylinder, replace rubber fuel hose with copper, install fuel pump inside tank, fix horn, maybe swap swingspring for rotoflex using CV shafts and MOT!!
  5. I would love New tan in mine but i know i'd ruin it in no time!!   Black defiantly hides the muck better
  6. Cool!  Great minds think alike!  middle setting on the spring seat is as good a start as any.  It may be wise to set the ride height on the car before Goodwood (sorry for stating the obvious!)
  7. 3141 wrote: Yes, so am I Tim. I'm not sure how feasible this would be but it would be interesting to do a back to back comparison at Goodwood in November. If the springs/shocks are assembled it should be quite a quick job to do a few laps and then change them. Same with the anti-roll bar. I have one of the bent wire ones and it would be interesting to see how it handles with the stiffer springs and the thin bar. as long as to have 2 pairs of upper spring seats it would be easy to swap them.  I say 2 pairs because you could assemble the avos with the springs under tension and set the ride height before going to goodwood.  Setting the ride height is about the longest aspect of the change over.
  8. John Have you fitted the shocks and springs yet?

    Front engine plate

Checked the front plate and it doesn't have the plate with the 3 holes welded to it :(  i do have a 2.0l engine from a saloon at work so I will check that on Monday.

    Front engine plate

391 wrote:Does anyone know where I can get a front engine plate for a Mk2 engine? It needs to have the bit with the three holes so you can mount the power steering pump bracket. Or if anobody on here has one spare they would like to exchange for bear tokens/RBRR charity donation? I have a front plate from a MK2 2.5 PI that i removed in order to fit a GT6 front plate.  I don't know if it has the 3 holes for power steering.  I will drag it out of the shed tonight and take a picture of it for you.  If it's suitable you can have it.  Are you going to the Stafford show?
  12. Yes Disconnect from carbs and pull the whole cable through the dash.

  14. Hi John Shocks and springs all boxed up and being posted tommorrow 8) Regards Tim
  15. My GT6 is a very late Mk3 and it has a fine thread.  Looks like you should just replace the upper shaft for a good 2nd hand unit.

  17. I thought those wheels were suitable for tubeless tyres? I don't think you need to use inner tubes. PS Wires wheels are horrible 8) 8)
  18. nang wrote:Thinking seriously of fitting MGF rims. Are the standard 3/8" wheelnuts used or something else. Don't want the drama of changing wheel studs etc. Thanks Tony. I wouldn't dream of using 3/8th studs with 15 inch wheels!  You can change them for Land rover freelander m12 studs.
  19. I would only trim the under felt on the floor but keep the carpet in tact.

  21. I have just changed to red poly bush and Gaz shocks on the front.  The difference is significant compared with the blue polys and Avo shocks i removed.   I would fit red poly every time and I'm very happy with the Gaz shocks.  I do still have avo's on the back (swingspring car) People rave about Koni's but the fronts don't have adjustable spring platforms and you need to remove them from the car to adjust the dampening.  Complete ball ache if you ask me so I wouldn't ever consider using them!
